My guy and I were traveling by car on a road trip, starting in Colorado and ending up in Southern California. Valley of the Gods was a perfect mid-way stop and the accommodations were my favorite of the trip! I believe we'd just left Mesa Verde NP and were heading towards the Grand Canyon, and I'm really glad we got to stay here.
We stayed for 2 nights in the cabin that was disconnected from the house and it was fantastic. The upstairs consisted of the bathroom, a living area, and the front porch. The bedroom was downstairs, which was accessible via a fun (narrow) spiral staircase, or via the downstairs door. The house stayed cool despite our visiting in the middle of the summer, likely because the downstairs room's walls were made of stone. If you like rustic and cozy cabins, you'll love this place.
Nearby: The town of Mexican Hat (home of the Mexican hat rock), Goosenecks SP, and Natural Bridges. You're probably visiting the middle of nowhere because you like nature and want to get away. We ventured into town to get dinner, and we hiked around the nearby parks the two days we were there. We also brought mountain bikes, but don't expect to go biking in the middle of the summer, the heat is brutal even in the early A.M.
Caution: Also watch out for the monsoons, as the water can wash out part of a road that leads to/from the B&B. There's another main road you can use to get there, which we took because our low-profile car was loaded down AND the 'shortcut' was flooded. They told us it was an unusually rainy week which made for some amazing nights sitting on the porch watching the lightning in the distance.
Overall, I can't say enough good things about our stay. The food was delicious (they had vegetarian and omnivore options), Claire and Gary and the other guests were very nice and you truly can't beat the views. I would definitely go back again.
