My husband and I stayed at this hotel the night before I ran the Logan Marathon. The hotel was full of runners and I was surprised at how little they were willing to do to accommodate us.
The hotel itself is old and run down (all the nice hotels were full because of the marathon). Although the sign says they are renovating, I didn't see any work happening. The room we stayed in (the "suite") was large and ancient, but it was as tidy as they could possibly make something so out of date and worn.
The thing that bothered me most was
#1 The breakfast. The runners needed just a few basic things. I was the first to arrive for breakfast at 4 am so I could catch a little something to eat before the marathon bus came to get us. There were little flies all over the breakfast room and the TWO bagels they had available had several small flies crawling around INSIDE the bag. After seeing that I didn't eat anything there that wasn't pre-wrapped. I ended up with a banana and a pre-wrapped muffin.
#2 Check out
The marathon started at 7am. Average finish time is nearly 4 and a half hours. That puts us back at 11:30. Check out time is 11 am. They extended our time by one hour but were unwilling to budge beyond that. Really? I kind of doubt they were booked for the next night. The guy at the front desk said that if I paid for half day, he would give me until 2 pm. Again, really? If I pay for another half day, I should get HALF the day. After running a marathon (in pouring rain the whole time), I kind of needed a shower. Didn't get one. The marathon runners filled up that hotel. It would have been empty otherwise. A little bit of accommodation would have been nice. I wasn't asking for much.
Oh, and in the corner below all the "suites" is a room that looks like someone lives in permanently. It is fenced off with a bunch of junk out front. The best part? They have a dog that barked all night long (a BIG dog, a golden retriever I think). Sleep is nice before running that far, but the dog had other plans for us.
Needless to say, I don't think we'll be staying there again.
