“Great customer service....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

If you travel you know that customer service can make or break about anything. This is where the Fairfield shines. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We were in town visiting some of the grandkids and asked about another room just for the day. Miss Sandy hooked us up with a room and for a great rate. It was so convenient to have another room to use for changing in and out of the swimsuits. We just hope there was not too much of a mess when all the grandkids left. THANK YOU so very much…

“Great Value and Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Had the opportunity to spend one night here on our way home, and it lived up to the usual Marriott standards. Everything was fine....great location near the interstate, great breakfast in the morning, close to plenty of restaurants and fast food places. All in all, it was a good experience. Only one thing to suggest for improvement. This hotel is totally non-smoking, but when we got to our assigned room, it was obvious that it had been smoked in....and quite a bit. This was not just a one time event, since the room was exremely stale and musty. I know there are ionizers (I think they are called that) that are able to clean the room's air of all this. When the housekeeping staff notices that someone has smoked, they should bring in that device to clean the air for the next guest. Other than that, all was very good. When we told the front desk of our desire to be moved because of the smoke, they accomodated us.

Room Tip: since this a non-smoking property, you may want to make sure your room was not smoked in.

“Just Ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

The location is good as it has easy freeway access and close to several restaurants. However, we were put in a room that directly faced the interstate so was pretty noisy. Could buy discounted Lagoon tickets so that was a plus.

The continental breakfast was seriously lacking. Breakfast was supposed to go to 10:00 a.m and we arrived at approx 9:15 a.m. and practically everything was gone. We had to ask the girl several times if they had more food she could bring out. There was no fruit, mainly just cereal and bagels. Overall was ok, but probably wouldn't stay again with the availability of other hotels nearby.

“Bad Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

We got to the hotel and had to wait for one person to check in 6 guests before us. Once we got checked into the room, we found out that we had no toilet paper. The mattress in our room was great and you will get a good night sleep. The first morning we got up and went to a packed breakfast area. I told my wife after 25 minutes that I had not seen anyone stocking any food. By the time my kids got to breakfast the room was a disaster. Breakfast sandwiches, waffle batter, fruit, coffee, and just about everything was gone. I them see the attendant bringing bowls of products in and trying to pass them out. My thought is on Saturday night with a full hotel you should have more than one person checking in guests. With the poor design of the breakfast area the hotel should also have at least two people trying to keep it full of product. The next day the breakfast attendant was much better. I did notice that the house keeping staff did not pick up our dirty towels from the day before. If you only want a great nights sleep , this is a great hotel. This is the first bad rating that I have given on Trip Advisor and I travel a lot.

“Comfortable beds make for restful sleep”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2011

My wife and I recently traveled to Salt Lake City to attend the U2 concert at University of Utah. Although we wanted to stay closer to downtown Salt Lake, most of the hotels in the area were already booked due to the concert. Being faithful Marriott customers, wanted to stay at a hotel in the Marriott chain. So we decided the 25-mile drive to Layton after the concert wouldn't be too bad as it would shorten our drive north the next day. It was an excellent decision.

Although this Fairfield Inn is similar to other Fairfields and actually a bit on the small side, I have rarely stayed at any hotel with better mattresses. The moment I sat on the bed after an exhausting evening of loud music, I was glad we decided to stay here. The mattresses are obviously very high quality and led to a very restful sleep.

Other factors that would lead me to recommend this hotel:
- Check-in was very professional and quick
- Breakfast was decent as it always is at any Fairfield Inn
- Pool... It's small but great for kids 12 and under
- A Cracker Barrel restaurant is right accross the front parking lot
- Layton Hills mall is less than a mile south
- Hill Air Force Base main gate is approximately two miles away
- Lagoon Amusement Park is 10 miles south

Overall, I would definitely stay here again just for the beds. After all, what is a hotel room for anyway? Sleeping.
