“It's alright, but we cancelled our next stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

On a road trip from San Diego to Yellowstone and back. Stayed here 1 night on the way out. Desk staff was nice, rooms were a bit old but decent. Walls and windows a little thin, could hear the neighbors TV and the trucks on the wet freeway. The location is nice that it's freeway close and near some restaurants and a Target, but other than that Salt Lake City is a good 25 mins. Breakfast is a bit lame. It's done on a take and eat basis so the idea is you take it back to your room or to your car and eat on your drive. A bit hard to do when they offer oatmeal and cold cereal in the line-up. We grabbed oats, juice a muffin and a banana and ate in the parking lot before heading out. On our return home, we have cancelled the TownePlace reservation and opted for the Residence Inn Salt Lake City Center.

“Smaller room, but a great price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

My family and I rented a room for one night so we could go to Lagoon the next day. When we arrived there was plenty of parking, the staff was attentive, and it was really quiet. I really only have two negatives, neither would stop me from staying again.

The first is that the room is a little small. It may just be the room type i got, but it was small-er because of the full kitchen that they have in there.

The other is the breakfast is a grab and go setup. Which was fine, except that meant there weren't a lot of options

All in all the price was right for a stay and lagoon package that they had and I would definitely stay here again!

“Perfect for us”

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of July in a 2 bedroom unit. It was nice having separate bedrooms to spread out a bit. The living room had a hide-a-bed so the option of sleeping 5 is there. There were 3 tvs so no one was fighting over what to watch. It was incredibly warm out and the air conditioning kept things cool. No issues with the beds, everything seemed clean, tidy and comfortable. We had no issues with noise from outside. Although the doors in the suite were a bit creaky which was annoying. The shower head seemed to be at a strange angle and non-adjustable.

The kitchen was small but useful with a sink, counter, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. There were some dishes and pots but it seemed a little lacking as there were only a couple of spoons and bowls (for a 4 person suite).

The pool is a small outdoor pool but seemed fine for the kids. There is also an indoor pool at the Marriott next door which is available for use. There is free wifi which seemed to work fine.

The hotel offers a "grab and go" breakfast. This consists of muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice and cereal. The variety is limited (one flavor of muffin, one type of juice, 3 kinds of cereal), we were bored with what they had after 2 days.

This hotel is located approximately 20 minutes north of Salt Lake City. There are plenty of nearby amenities including stores and restaurants.

I would recommend the TownPlace Suites to anyone looking for a bit more space and the ability to prepare your own meals. I think the value was exeptional.

“RUN! Don't Walk - DUMP!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

We checked in Sunday evening July 3rd on our Independence Day holiday to find one of the worst hotels ever! The horrible stench of cheap perfumed air freshener hits you at the hall entry door. The room was even WORSE! It knocked you over. IMPOSSIBLE situation for anyone with allergies to perfume or environmental toxins. You could NOT stay there without becoming ill it was THAT BAD! To top it off, there was NO toilet paper in the bathroom and there were a pile of dirty pillows stacked up at the end of bed without any pillow case covers on them. There was an old laundry basket laying on the floor and the furniture was terribly old, outdated. It was very obvious that the hotel staff were attempting to mask a nastier odor with their putrid air spray that could have killed a cat. To make things worse, when we called the front desk to inform them of the problem and let them know we would in no way be able to stay there without going to the emergency room, the desk clerk could not have cared less and didn't bother calling us back. When we went to the lobby to get them to find us another room, they couldn't even be bothered to APOLOGIZE for our distress and inconvenience. We had driven 300 miles that day and were tired and just wanted to relax and enjoy the evening, but that was ruined as we had to go find another room at another hotel on a holiday weekend. I never would have believed that Marriott properties could decline to this level - SHAME on YOU!

Room Tip: AVOID Marriott and stay @ Drury

“Better than I expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We booked a 2 bedroom suite at this hotel and loved it. I wasn't expecting it to be all that fancy after reading other reviews but it was fine & just as good as any other Marriott chain hotel I've stayed in.

The full kitchen was very handy for snacks, drinks and breakfast. I never actually made it down for breakfast here. I don't remember Marriott's website saying there *was* a brekkie but apparently so. My friend said it was quite basic.

We did have problems with our room keys. Twice we returned to the hotel only to find they didn't work. We had to trundle downstairs each time.

The beds were very comfortable however we couldn't seem to get the air con working properly in the bedrooms. Utah put on a snow storm for us when we were there & it was quite cool in the rooms. No extra blankets either and it's always the middle of the night when you discover you need them.

The hotel shares a carpark with the Courtyard & the Fairfield Inn. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance (although we drove...walking in the snow is not really an option!). Barnes & Noble are directly across the road with their cafe. Target is a little further over and has groceries & everything you could possibly need for a nice stay.

I can highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for 2 bedrooms & a kitchen.
