“Easy to overlook”

We only stopped here because everywhere around Bryce was full. Does not look much from the outside and easy to drive by but dont. This is the town where most of the old Cowboy movies were made and the motel was part of the history. The rooms are simple but comfortable and clean. All have movie star names. We stayed in the John Wayne room. There is a very "homey" feeling about the place. People very friendly and in the morning you help yourself to breakfast. There is a piano and little sitting area where guests can meet. In the barn they play old cowboy movies every night. We were lucky to get the last room. A lot of the people there were going river rafting. There restaurant was closed. We got a take out from a diner nearby which was awful.

“Mostly liked it but a few improvements would be nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Overall, I liked stayed at the Parry Lodge. It's not a cookie cutter motel and I enjoyed its unique character.

We had the John Wayne room and after a long day of hiking, I absolutely loved soaking in the whirlpool tub.

The room does have some drawbacks - it's small and since it was cold outside, if one person was awake and the other was sleeping - well, the only spare place to sit was the bathroom. (However, that wouldn't be a problem when it's warmer and you could sit outside.) For some reason, I thought the room had a microwave and fridge, but it didn't have either. However, it was so cold out at night that we left our beer outside and didn't need to use a fridge. The room also didn't have a hairdryer, which usually isn't a big deal for me but it would have come in handy since it got down into the 20s while we were there.

All of the employees there were friendly and helpful - especially the waitress. You have a choice between a free continental breakfast or a cooked to order breakfast for $5.99. And it was fun chatting with the regulars who come in for breakfast.

Finally, the rates were reduced during winter and it was definitely a bargain at $50/night.

Room Tip: A few of the rooms have whirlpool tubs. We were told that some of the other rooms have been recentl...

“Very Honest Nice People!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We stayed at the Parry Lodge for 1 night about a week before Christmas. We booked one of the doggy friendly rooms. We were so happy to find the room super clean and nice. The beds were comfy. The quality was better than some non-doggy friendly rooms we've stayed in. Breakfast was delish the next morning. I had the best hash browns I've had in my life. We packed up and headed toward Phoenix. We were about 3 hrs away from Kanab when we realized that we left $500 in cash underneath one of the hotel room books!!! We freaked out and called the Parry Lodge and they said that the cleaning lady had found the money and turned it into the manager. They held the money safely for us while we drove back for 3 hrs :) Everyone we talked to at the Lodge was friendly and helpful and we are so grateful that they kept our moola safe. It's a beautiful place to stop and relax. I wish we had planned more time to explore Kanab before we headed to Phoenix.

Room Tip: Our room didn't have a refrigerator, but we didn't need one :0)

“Great find in Kanab”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We visited kanab in early December and found that many of the motel options were closed for the season. Out of our open options we picked the Parry Lodge- what a great decision. It was clean, comfortable and full of old Hollywood history. We enjoyed the motel so much that instead of staying over by Lake Powell- we drove back to Kanab and spent another night at the lodge.check out breakfast for $5.99 it's a pretty good bargain.

“A walk back in film history via Parry Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

What a lodge! Such a pleasant surprise at the end of a tiring day but exhlarating day of soaking up other beauties of Utah. A unique day - we loved it so much we inadvertently walked off with a piece of it - the room key... Which we returned sooner than we will be able to revisit. Special thanks to a charmed hostess, 1sttimer
