“Decent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Stayed at this hotel as part of road trip in NV and AZ in Oct 2011.

I was in town on a busy Sunday evening, but there were vancancies here. Very close to Zion Canyon NP.

Wecolming check-in. I had a large room, which was clean. Good range of TV channels. However a loud A/C. Room has a balcony (overlooking road - but nice touch)

There was free wifi, however this didnt work as I was at the end of the building - not a major problem.

Free Bk.

A good choice, and I would stay again.

“Western atmosphere with the feeling of home.”

Our family stopped in Kanab at the Best Western Red Hills on our way from Salt Lake to Phoenix. The hotel's atmosphere was perfect for the small western city.
In walking distance to two great steak houses and fast food.
We were very happy with our rooms and enjoyed a great free breakfast buffet in the morning.

“Good Breakfast, Unimpressive Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Luckily I got this room for half price off season. The single king, second floor featured a dirty pillow case, no microwave, obvious wear and tear but a balcony, basic cable and a closed spa and pool. The bed was saggy and soft- leaving me sore and poorly rested.

“Best western not upto other best western hotels”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

I always try to choose Best western for staying overnight, if one is available in the area. Out of 11 nights in different Best western hotels in east, central, west coast and Canada, this one and the one in Merced CA was not good enough when compared to other Best western hotels or
at least the experience I had. If you are a fan of Best western hotels you may want to stay away from these locations. I don't have anything to point out specifically but the over all look, feel and experience is not up to the standard. The one Merced was not even cleaned properly.

“OK for the Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I booked this hotel because some of the higher rated properties were either full or more than twice the price. After reading the reviews I was skeptical, but thought we could endure anything for one night. We had a family suite for $108, and since we split with another couple it worked out to be less than $60 per night. Now, for $60 a night, what we got was fine. The room was on a top floor and it was very quiet. It had clearly been renovated because the tile was new in the bathroom and the linens on the bed were very clean and hardly warn. The paint was a pleasant green and the room itself was very clean. They looked quite updated compared to the photos on the Best Western website. The only complaint on cleanliness is that the carpet was stained, so why the rest of the room was updated and not the carpet is a mystery. However, the heating/cooling system was another matter entirely. They had one of those blower heaters and it was a fairly cold night in Kanab. If we set it to 69 degrees, it didn't run and we were cold, but if we bumped it up to 70 it ran constantly and we were too warm. It seemed that both rooms had this problem, but ours was slightly worse since the seal on the front door was non-existent and cold night air poured into it all night long.
In one room we had two queen size beds and a king in the other. The beds were comfy. There was plenty of space for a portable crib in either room. The rooms were separated by two doors and a hallway and there was an entrance to the bathroom from either room. The vanity area was separated from the shower and toilet by another door.
The breakfast was OK, pretty standard. They only had one kind of muffin (banana nut) and were out of bread except for wheat or English Muffins. The eggs were cold, despite the attendant making them (warming in the microwave) and putting them in a heated tray. The sausage was also microwaved, so everything was a little rubbery. They had three waffle irons, two standard round Belgians and another that made four individual Belgians. Originally I sprayed one of the standard size irons and when it was time to take it out, I literally had to scrape it out. It was overdone, burnt and inedible. I noticed everyone using the standard irons was having the same problem. However, when I made 4 little waffles using the other iron, they were perfect. Clearly, it's time to replace the others. Also, the breakfast attendant wad friendly, but went around to nearly every table making comments that clearly demonstrated that she expected a tip. It was a little odd. Not that I have a problem leaving a tip, as she was very attentive to make sure the room was clean and stocked, but it was a little intrusive.
Overall, we had an average stay, but I was happy with that considering some of the other reviews. I think for the right price, I would stay here again and hope for a better situation with the heater.
