“Great first visit - will probably be back!”

Setting: First week of Jan - weather ranged from high 30s to low 60s. Sunny and crisp! Facilities were pretty empty - didn't have a single class with more than 9 people. I'd say they were about 25% occupied. Special rate @ $175 a night, including all meals.

Hikes: Did three morning hikes - two led by Red Mtn staff, one on our own. Great guides: Connie, Kerry, Rhonda. Scenic!

Classes: did 3-4 classes a day, from stretching to hydro challenge to conditioning. Instructors were pretty decent/not annoying. Swam on my own a lot too.

Massage: that was all I did at the spa - they were having a special and 50 min massages were $79. Hung out in the steam room in the spa for at least 30 min each day.

Wifi: working! a little slow in room, but no probs connecting with iPad. Big wifi upgrade was in the works while there - parts of the grounds were dug up to install cables.

Food: three solid meals a day, no issues as a pescetarian. Lots of great veggie options with every meal. Salad bar with lunch and dinner. Yummy Tazo teas!
Outfitters: store had everything you might need, at not-too-inflated prices. Brands featured were Prana, Mountain Hardware, Moving Comfort, Speedo, Smart Wool...lots of footwear too.

Room: perfectly serviceable. Comfy bed - perhaps because by end of day, I was exhausted! Heater was loud but not overwhelming. Toiletries were above average. Tons of space for two people to unpack their stuff.

My wishes: that bike rentals were free, and that they had a bathing suit dryer.

Room Tip: You won't spend much time in your room. Seriously.

“Loved every minute of it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

I just came back from five days at Red Mountain and am delighted to say I loved every minute of them. Traveling alone, I was concerned about feeling out of place or not finding enough to keep me busy but both concerns were absolutely unnecessary. I met terrific people and was nearly overwhelmed at times by the many activity options. I'd have to stay another week to fit in everything I wanted to try!

I started each day with a guided hike. They offer three levels of hiking and I made it to challenger (endurance a bit out of my league). The scenery is amazing and each hike is unique. This was followed by a class- yoga, stretch, or pilates. The instructors were great-- very knowledgeable and friendly. Then, after lunch, there were more classes to choose from or various tours to take (24 mile bike ride along the Santa Clara river was excellent).

I enjoyed the food quite a bit. It was healthy without being unappealing and there's a great variety to choose from at the lunch and breakfast buffets each day. I found myself asking for several recipes to take home and the chef is always happy to oblige. Portions are small (by today's gargantuan restaurant standards anyway) at dinner but with soup, salad, dessert I was always more than satisfied.

I can say enough good about the staff here. All the guides were incredibly informative and friendly. Everyone I encountered was eager to accommodate my every need.

“Great location and activity classes but marginal spa and disappointing nutrition”

I just spent 4 days with my friends at Red Mountain Resort. What an amazing setting! The morning hikes and all fitness activities were first class, up to date and inspiring. Amazing staff led the classes!
The rooms are ok, nothing special but functional. We had spa treatments which were also ok but not up to expectation. The most surprising part was though the food. Most guests, I am assuming, come to the resort to jump start their health but the food was very uninspiring and often unhealthy. No whole grain, no organic meat or vegetables, burgers for lunch and always cookies made with sugar and butter around to nibble on. I am not saying the food wasn't tasty but it definetely wasn't spa cuisine. Not even close to the food you'll have at a Golden Door. You know something is off when non-organic chicken is part of the detox plan.

But overall it was fun and the hikes in that amazing location led by super friendly staff was worth every single penny!

Room Tip: Ask to be on the second floor. The 1st is really dark.

“WISH I COULD LIVE HERE”

Just back from a solo trip to Red Mtn Resort. Each day I took the guided morning hike from 8-11am, which was always moderately exhilarating and amazing. At 11, I chose yoga or a stretch class, then lunch and a spa treatment (hot rock massage was awesome). Afternoon activities also presented an array of adventure alternatives, including guided hikes, meditation on the red rocks, intro to chi gong, labrynth circle, cooking class, aqua fitness in their huge saltwater pool! Nice wine selection, food was nutritious, chocolate fondue was delightful, my bed was super comfy (Turtle Bldg--not a villa), room was clean and very quiet, and a good soak in the deep bathtub was a perfect prelude to a great nights sleep. I thought the staff was gracious and accommodating. In the end, I had FUN, met some friendly folks, got in (better) shape, and I feel good. A perfect getaway!

Room Tip: Turtle Building, face the redrocks, second floor.

“Relax and Recharge Among "Friends"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

Due to an ankle injury, I was unable to go with my friends on a 3-day hiking trip in Zion which we had been planning for several months. My consolation prize was to chauffeur them to Zion and then spend 2 days at Red Mountain Resort. I think I lucked out! I spent those two days enjoying the beauty of Red Mountain, the thoughtful attentiveness of the staff and the friendliness of the other guests. I enjoyed delicious food, exceptional customer service and comfortable luxury accommodations all in the most beautiful setting of the Red Mountains!

I took an aqua class (low to no impact) that was challenging and fun. The instructor was energetic, gave very clear instructions and encouraged everyone in the class. The other participants themselves were very supportive and made the workout great fun. I took several stretch classes conducted by highly qualified trainers who put safety and correct form as high priority. I was encouraged by front desk staff to share with the trainers my physical limitations before class so they could offer suggestions to modify movements. I did so at the 3 stretch classes I attended. All three instructors took the time to ask me questions so they fully understood my limits and during class they customized their instructions for me. I expect such personalization from a one-on-one training event but not from a classroom situation. I was very impressed by the trainer's willingness and ability to personalize the workout to the needs of the participants.

I enjoyed my stay so much that I have booked two additional visits this December and January.

Hello Financially Savvy, Thank you for choosing Red Mountain not only once -but three times. I hope your ankle injury is resolved enough for you to enjoy some great red rock hiking during your return visits in December and January.
