“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2012 NEW

This hotel is a great location from Arches National Park, Moab UT. Often the hotels closest to the National Park are booked all summer long. Blue Moutain Inn is only about an hour south and is a beautiful drive to Arches, if you are looking for an alternate location this is perfect.

Room Tip: Pick a top floor. It has better views.

“I've seen worse, but I've seen way better, too”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2012 NEW

I see on here that this hotel is undergoing some renovations. I sure hope that's still the case, because they have a long way to go. Despite what other people here have said, I found all of the staff that I encountered to be very nice and helpful. The room did not appear to be dirty, but there were plenty of signs that either the owners don't have the resources to keep the place up, don't have the same standards as other hotels, or are transitioning to better conditions slowly. The bed was clean and comfortable - the mattresses appeared to be new. Other things in the room were falling apart, like the lamp shades, the toilet seat, the faucet on the sink. The cleaning staff clearly did not replace the used shampoo and conditioner bottles in the room (they were opaque, so you couldn't tell they'd been used just by looking at them, but they were definitely not full). The smoke detector was missing, and wires were hanging out of the ceiling where it was supposed to be. The doors were all very scratched up - like someone really didn't take any care at all in moving furniture in and out.

Breakfast was okay. The coffee was terrible, and they didn't have any half-and-half or creamer.

I see on here that others have reported bed bugs, and this hotel is listed on bedbugregistry.com. If I'd known that I wouldn't have set foot in this hotel (the decision to stay in Blanding was last minute). However, I didn't see any evidence of them in my room and wasn't bitten.

I do not recommend this hotel in its current state. If they are making improvements, then they have a lot of work to do to make it an inviting place to stay. There are plenty of other hotels to choose from in Blanding that might be cleaner and in better repair.

BTW, it's pretty obvious that the "excellent" ratings on here were written by owners/managers/staff members of this hotel. The poor language and misspellings are the same in several of them, and many of them are from reviewers that have only submitted one review on TripAdvisor (at least, as of the time of this writing).

My Dear Birdie-bird-2012,

We are far from being the best but we try our best each time! We are working very diligently to take all proper measures of preventive maintenance to keep up our property to the highest standards of hospitality.

Proactive measures are taken and action plan is in place to assure our property does not have bedbug issues. We have not received validity of the allegations made on the bedbugregistry.com, nor can they prove the validity of the postings.

As for the excellent tripadvisor reviews we have received from our guest are all unbias and are a reflection of our dedication and commitment to hospitality.

Thank you for your feedback we greatly appreciate it!

Respectfully yours,

Ana

“Making Progress”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2012

This property is nearly remodled. The sign still says Comfort Inn, and there
is still work to do on the exterior, screens etc. The king suite room was a nice size
and seemed to be recently updated, except for the tub. The breakfast was good,
with bacon and eggs etc. This property is getting closer to being beter than when
it was a Comfort Inn, but it's not quite there.

“Good value in Blanding”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2012

We stayed at the Blue Mountain Inn before a visit to Natural Bridges National Monument. The rooms are basic but adequate. Linens are OK and the bed was comfortable. They offer a full breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal, bananas. If you want good coffee, bring your own. The coffee in the room is not good and the coffee in the breakfast room is worse. Also beware that Blanding is dry, so bring your own beer and put it in the refrigerator when you check in. Nearby Natural Bridges are well worth a visit

“Poor hospitality can magnify your inn's defects”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2012

person found this review helpful

Often helpful hospitality can cost nothing, but can effectively smooth over some rough spots in your customer's experience. Our observation at Blue Mountain Inn was that staffers don't want to be bothered with reasonable requests.
THE POSITIVES:
~ A refrig, microwave, and table/chairs in our large room.
~ An adequte breakfast.
~ Maybe the best place to stay in Blanding?
~ A lobby computer
~ Near some awesome scenery. Highly recommend the Moki Dugway, the southern end of Route 261. Not for sissies or wimpy cars.

THE NEGATIVES:
~ Yelling from the front desk when someone (not me) tried to enter the b'fast area too late.
~ Not enough cash on hand to cash a $50 traveller's check for a customer? Really?
~ Room not cleaned adequately.
~ Deferred maintenance

We paid $61.20 + tax for a King for 2 adults. We drove on to Cortez, CO, rather than return to Blue Mountain for a 2nd night.
