DEAL STRUCTURE: Got the room/7-nights from hotwire. Drove down from Dallas.
LOCATION: Weslaco is in the middle of the Rio Grande Valley so it is easy to go west to McAllen or east to South Padre Island. But you need a car as there is no/little public transportation in this area.
PARKING LOT: Well lit for overnight safety. Not a lot of parking, but enough. 18-wheelers parked nearby. Parking lot was clean.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ROOM: Basic, basic, basic. The carpet was clean, even in the corners. Paint OK. Bathroom ceramic tile with super plumbing and hot water. Good towel service.
SUPPORT STAFF: Very helpful, kind and supportive. Always a smile. No negative vibes.
BREAKFAST: They say its from 7:30 to 9:30AM, but parts of the breakfast were coming out as early as 5AM. Coffee was always there. It's a no protein breakfast........all sugar/carbs. All cereals were "super sugar." No problem, went to Wal-Mart and got knock off oat circles. Heat pastries in the microwave for 11-seconds. Waffle batter comes out just before 7:30AM. Get some cheese at WMT and put it in your room refrigerator. That goes great on a waffle.
INTERNET: Not able to connect from way down the hall. They moved me closer to the office where I could connect on the wi-fi. Other people were not having problems connecting, only me.
CABLE TV: Good selection of channels, but we don't have much use for TV. It's an embarrassing wasteland, especially all that sports.
EXPRESSWAY 83: This is the main east/west highway that runs through the valley. America's Best Value/Weslaco is on the north side at county road 1015, behind the pizza place and between the meat market and Valero Gas Station. There is a frontage road on both the north and south side of the expressway and here is where you'll find local retail.
FLEA MARKETS: Lots of them from Wednesday through Sunday. They are in all different locations. When you hit the first one, someone will mark all the others on your map.
SUMMARY: If you plan to go into Mexico, leave your car on the U.S. side and walk over the border, but remember to be back before sundown. Road 1015 is also known as International Boulevard and the border crossing is just a few miles south. Oh, they call it The Rio Grande Valley just to boost tourism. The area should really be called "The Rio Grande Delta." Enjoy your stay!

I flew in to McAllen the manager of the America’s best value inn came and picked me up at the airport. i stayed 6 nights and the hospitality was great all the time. My purpose for the trip was to get teeth pulled and replaced with false teeth in Progresso Mexico. They took me to the border and came and picked me up when I called every day. The management as well as the staff was beyond any normal hotel. The rooms were very clean. The continental breakfast was great. I have and will highly recommend this hotel to everyone. If you’re going to south Texas this should be your place to stay. If you need a doctor or dental work I recommend staying here and going to Progresso Mexico. The dental work was exceptional. There are flyers at the front desk for the dentist. Thank you for a great stay.

This hotel was awesome, the service was great and the workers were very friendly. I recommend Americas Best Value Inn to everyone. It is a very homely setting. We will definetly go back again.

The hotel is old and worn. Needs lots of repairs and cleaning. We had a non-smoking room, which smelled of stale smoke. They said it had been cleaned for non smokers, but it sure smelled strong of smoke. They came up and sprayed some deoderizer. Didn't help much. Not very impressed.
