Incident: 01/27/2011
I arrived at this motel for a speaking engagement in the Victoria Texas area the next day. I was met at the hotel desk by a local attorney who was there to explain to me that there was a mix-up with the event organizers and so there was no reservation awaiting me on Wednesday, the 26th when I arrived, but there was a room booked for me for the following day.

The young man at the desk, gave me a room which I paid. He then explained that he had made a mistake and took off the reservation for the 27th. He said that the organizers could get another imprint for pay the next day.

The next day, the organizers came to meet me and were told that I was not there. When they called my cell number I explained I was there. I then called the front desk and asked what happened. The manager was a very rude and harsh woman who began yelling at me over the phone stating that thew clerk the night before had made a mistake in giving me a room. I said the matter was between the manager and the clerk. I stated that I was going to hang up since she was now yelling at me.

The next thing I knew the manager was pounding her fists on my room door screaming for me to "Open this door this minute!"

She scared me out of my wits.

I told her to get away from the door, that she was very threatening and that I would call the police if she did not get away from the door. This infuriated her and she continued her banging and her public harangue through my door. I had to call the police to come to the motel. There is an incidence report. He suggested I find another hotel, but I was already packing my things when he got there.
The gentleman who was told I was not at the hotel returned to find me and he told the policeman about the manager telling him I was not in the room. I told him about the manager's harangue and threats.

I have been lecturing internationally for 20 years and have never been the victim of threats and accusations and of humiliation of this sort in my career.

After reading negative reviews of other hotels in Victoria, Texas, Decided to try Super 8 (near the mall not the one on Hwy 59 North) and the experience was wonderful. The room was large and very clean. The staff was very helpful in giving local information on shopping and restaurants. The continental breakfast included breakfast tacos! And the price is great. It is also well located near the mall and other shopping areas. Highly recommended.

Looked and felt like a new hotel. Beds were fine. About the best I can say for this stay. The problem we faced was an plugged toilet. Man came in with a plunger to get the toilet fixed and threw down a few towels to soak up the overflow. No offer was made to allow us to change rooms. No further cleaning was offered. We had to asked for some disinfectant and ended up cleaning the bathroom floor ourselves.

After reading some negative reviews of other hotels in Victoria, Texas, I decided to try Super 8 (near the mall not the one on Hwy 59 North) and the experience was wonderful.
