Stayed at the Comfort Inn for one night and it was okay. It is very basic, no frills.

The room was fairly decent size, and the beds and linens were okay. There was one of the most garish paintings I have ever seen in the room I stayed in. They would have been better off without a painting.

If you arrive after 10 pm, there is no place to eat in Vega. The only place I saw to eat was a Dairy Queen, and it closed before 10 pm. Either eat in Amarillo or Tucumcari, because there is no place in Vega other than a Dairy Queen.

I think this hotel is an okay place to stay for one night while travelling on I-40.

We stayed at this property last year and returned this year. It is in a very small town that seems to roll up the streets at night. It is very close to I-40 but the road noise didn't bother us. Last year we traveled with our pet and he went into the room with us. This year we traveled without him. I am fuzzy about the "pets all in one room" because they still had the pet friendly sign up. The breakfast is the same canned free breakfast you get at any motel. If you are traveling east you are about 30 minutes to regular food if you are traveling west you will get pretty hungry before you get to "civilization". This motel worked well for us as an overnight resting place. Clean and easy to get in and out of. Very friendly owners/workers.

We were travelling home to Illinois from Phoenix - March 26,2009 and were trapped for 2 days due to a snow storm. Now granted the owners could not do anything about the weather - but their attitude towards the travellers was horrible. Saturday, March 28 the snow and wind quit and they did nothing to clear the parking lots and drive ways so we could leave. In fact the only thing the Mrs. could say ws "After 11 you pay more". The laundry facility was out of order as was the ice machine. I have seen lakes cleaner than the pool. During the day a lot of us sat in the lobby to visit - the coffee soon ran out and they did nothing to refill. We finllay left on Sat. - but only after all the GUESTS pitched in together to dig with their hands - ice buckets - whatever we could find and literally pushed the cars out. Oh yes, there was a snow shovel in the lobby - but when one gentleman asked where it was - it suddenly disappeared. The Mrs. acted like she had no idea what was going on when asked about. it. I waited 10 days to complain to the corporate office - the lady was very nice and took all the info and said that the Owners would respond to the complaint. It is now April 21 and have not heard any response. The only response I got from the Customer Serivice Rep is "There are some cultural differences here". Well excuse me but this is the United States of America and there is no excuse for treating hard working American Citizens who work 50 weeks out of the year to have a wonderful vacation spoiled by some foreigners who just want our $$$$. Somehow this doesn't paint the picture of Texas Hospitality. I will not stay at any hotel associated with this chain. And the is my American Right - my Freedon of Choice.

My husband & I were traveling thru this area on Wed. April 1, 2009. I phoned ahead to ask if there were rooms available and whether the Comfort Inn was "pet friendly". When we arrived, I was informed by the man at the front desk that our pet would have to go into a room with other pets. So the "pet friendly" was from that conversation a "common pet" room. NO WAY! I cannot imagine the problems that could come from that kind of arrangement. We left, drove on to Amarillo where we spent the night in a hotel that was in another chain and that proved to be highly acceptable. Vega, TX will not be an option in our dispersement of travel dollars in the future.
