For the price I paid ($50 on a Sunday night) the Inn of Uvalde was acceptable. The desk clerk wasn't especially efficient or friendly, even before I asked to be moved to a different room. The motel wasn't busy, but she was, with something other than her job.

The first room I got looked fine, but I noticed that one of the locks had been removed from the door. I asked for a different room, and she sent me to another one, with a working lock but no refrigerator. I went back and asked if any rooms with refrigerators were still available, and she found one. It turned out to be a smoking room, and I had reserved a non-smoking room, but I figured that this was probably as good as it was going to get, so I didn't bother her any more.

The room was ok. It was clean, with lots of room, and a large bathroom. Everything worked fine except for the bathroom fan. In the morning, they had a variety of pastries and coffee available.

The property looks to be about 30-40 years old and was probably part of a chain at one time. There is a restaurant on site, and it was busy, but I chose to eat somewhere else. There are plenty of restaurants and other businesses along the road, and it's not far from the center of town.

Overall, it's not great, but for the price it was fine for me once I got the right room.

I booked 2 nights at this hotel, but only stayed one before moving to the Holiday Inn next door.

PROS:

This hotel is very clean -- my room's carpet appeared to be brand new. The furniture is very dated, but the bed was comfortable. Good A/C and shower.

CONS:

Noisy. There was a lot of parking lot activity until 10 pm. Noise from the room above me was terrible. Every step boomed in my room -- I eventually asked to be moved to an upstairs room. My bathroom had ants, and the towels were thin, old and gross. Most importantly though -- at least for me -- was the lack of internet service and an iron. This was a business trip, and the inability to check email or iron my work clothes was enough to send me to the Holiday Inn. It's also noisy, but had good internet service, irons, and much better towels.

The Inn of Uvalde is a clean, basic motel at a reasonable price. We had no complaints during our stay. It has a nice grassy area with trees on one side near the pool. It seems to be a popular place for hunters to stay. They have regular coffee in the lobby in the mornings, but no decaf. We would stay there again.
