Just spent 4 nights at the Longhorn again and all I can say was it was a great time... again. The owners are some of the nicest people that you will ever meet. They will bend over backwards to tell you were to go sight see and other things to do in the Terlingua/ Big Bend area. Make sure that you try some of their Mexican food in the restaurant at the motel it is the best around. The rooms were nice and clean as usual.

We read the reviews before coming here to stay so we really didn't know exactly what to expect. Some good, Some bad. Bottom line is that some people just can't be pleased and that would explain the "bad" reviews. The water is perfectly safe to shower and brush your teeth. The wifi worked perfectly in our room (which was one of the furthest ones from the office. The pool was great, water was crystal clear. The rooms were exceptionally clean and smelled great. The coolest thing about this place is that ALL linens and washables are washed each time someone checks out. This includes the blanket, comforter, shower curtain etc. The sheets were high quality and smelled wonderful because not only was everything pristine clean but all of the linens are hung outside to dry in the fresh air.
The owners bent over backwards to make our stay great. The restaurant food was the best around, according to several locals we spoke with and we have to agree.
We were treated like family. You go stay with family and there may be little things that you are not accustomed to but if you are looking for a 5 star hotel, drive to Lajitas and pay $175 a nite.
This place is pretty remote which we loved. We will be back!!

This place was a true adventure for our family. I told them to stay flexible and be like pioneers. Traveling in from Alpine, I noticed the large sign just in time to hit the brakes and skid to a stop just before Terlingua. On entering the parking lot, I anticipated trouble as my wife and grandchildren started to cry. We had just come from the McDonald observatory and old Fort Davis the day before. The family immediately wanted to return to the ruins of Fort Davis and stay there. However, I convinced them that this was a real adventure; where else could you play with mangie dogs in the courtyard, enjoy a chiminea when the temperature approached 100 degrees, swim in a pool that made a sewage treatment pond look inviting? Really, the pool had a sign that said "shower before entering"; I assume they wanted no additional dirt in the pool. Anyway, despite the fact that you have to sit at the kitchen table in the owners patio to get internet and not drink the water, this was on eof our most interesting stays. Tried to get breakfast the first morning, but Grandma was not feelin well, so only coffee was available.....free. Rooms were comfortable and only three channels on the tv, but who watches tv in the middle of nowhere. So we went out by the pool and had a star party. The sky was majestic and the stars were blinding. I haven't seek the mily way this bright since i flew my F-4 Phantom to england at 42,000 feet. You really have to try this place to appreciate it. Just spent 4 nights at the Longhorn and loved it. Nice and quiet with awesome food. Managers are very friendly and helpful in making your stay comfortable and memorable. This is a great place for dirt bike riders to stay as there is easy access to miles of old dirt roads.
