“Old and run down... in need of seroius remodeling!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

I stayed in room 108 with my husband and young son for an extended weekend. We loved that the beach was only a few steps away from the back door, but that is where the positives end. The moment we stepped inside, we were immediately disappointed. The condo was tiny, and smelled terrible like mildew. Someone had sprayed a ton of air freshener in the condo prior to our arrival, most likely to conceal the odor, but it didn't work. The furniture is old and worn out. The bathroom is out-dated, tiny, and felt dirty just because it was so old. The beds were as hard as rocks, and the corners of the bedframes stuck out to the point that I cut my ankle on the bed on our first day there. The outside entry way that leads to the front door was also dirty and stinky, and had dead roaches laying all over the place. It was strange that you had to walk down a long dark hallway to get to the front door of the condo. Also, the sliding glass back door does not open properly and the locks do not work on it. You have to wedge a paice of wood into the metal track to "lock" it. The vertical blinds on the back door are missing several slats, so anyone passing be can easily look in. Being on the first floor was a plus. Take note that although the beach is right outside the back door, it cannot be seen due to a large hill. You must walk around the hill to access the beach. The pool area was pretty nice, although small. The beach is the only thing that made the whole trip worth it. That is where we spent most of our time. We wanted to spend as little time inside the condo as possible.

“La Internacional Condo 108 - Just an OK stay”

We stayed for 4 nights and this condo was presented to us through photos and such as a beachfront property...they forgot to mention the BIG sand dune right infront of our condo blocking the view of the beach. It was easy beach access and we enjoyed that very much. The A/C had a moldy smell to it when it came on. The dishwasher was rusted and we were afraid to turn it on. We were unable to lock the sliding door, so a piece of wood was already available to place between the doors so they could not be opened (how convenient). Although the condo was very nicely decorated, the underside of the kitchen table was rotten (pieces of wood were falling off). We would recommend to others, but beware when it says beachfront, you can't see it because of the HUGE sand dune. The pool area was very small. If it was worth the time/money - it was ok, not the greatest deal. During our stay, we did see a couple of cockroaches coming from the outside into the condo through the sliding door. If you are looking for a huge place, this is certainly not and that was shocking to see when we walked in for the first time. A bar right beside the condo would be a plus for singles and spring breakers.

“Couldn't get any closer to the beach, Loved that!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

Stayed here for the 4th of July. Great interior decor in our room, 310. Had some nighttime issues when lights weren't working in bedroom, went to see super (who sleeps on the first floor) and he came right away to fix the problem. Overall, loved the stay, the view, and the short walk to the beach.

“Best unknown place on the Island”

This is the best unknown place on South Padre Island. Not only can you walk right outside your condo and be on the beach but you can walk next door to eat, dance, drink and be merry without having to drive. You can stumble back to your condo without even stepping on cement (almost).

“Really on the beach”

Had an excellent unit with direct view of the gulf . Beach was within a few feet of the building and well kept up. Not all units have views due to recent nearby building but that is made to clear to prospective renter. Unit was newly decorated and had fully equiped kitchen. There was plenty of towels and bed linens. Will try to rent same unit again.
