“The stay and and condo were great BUT...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2010

Everything with the condo stay was good except that we were there for a family renion in which we had family with us. Though I liked the security provided for our safety we had a major problem getting back threw. The guard was a real pain and refused to let us back in. Because we took both of our cars and we were in the second car they made us park across the street and walk back threw an alley to get back to the hotel. That I feel put us all in danger so close to Mexico and all the problems they have there. He said the pass expired at midnight. That is crazy. A pass should expire in the morning so when you leave the condo there should never be a question about getting back in. We were paying for our stay and it was our car they refused to let in. Futher more, Your guard was very rude not wanting to open the gate when we walked back saying there was a walk threw. How are we suppose to know that when it was our first time there. The hotel should have stood behind their guest instead of telling us it was up to security . I can understand if the the hotel was full of guests and the parking was limited but it was definately not the case. THERE WAS PLENTY OF PARKING.

“Don't come the last week in July ever!”

You need to be careful when you book your trip and not book the last week of July. The place is over run with Mexican High School kidsdrinking and screaming till 6 am. Their parents drop them off and leave them unsupervised and with lots of boze. They scream from one patio to the next all night into the morning. Good luck getting the management to do much. They say to call down and they will handle it. Nothing changes.

“SPI Food & Fun”

We always go in the fall or spring. There is lots of time to relax and enjoy the restaurants in the area! Love the Shrimp Cook Off Days and Sand Castle Days are always fun to see! Big Al's restaurant is one of our favorites - good food, good prices and always friendly! Love the shrimp! Best on the Island! Al is always around saying hello to you too!
We have a time share at this hotel. Is a little costly if you go during peak season!

“Will not stay here again or recommend to friends...”

My husband and I went to South Padre Island on vacation in Feb. I booked this resort as an RCI exchange. So far most of our exchange experiences have been very good. Well, this one was a huge disappointment. The studio that we were given was dirty, and the furniture and decor were very outdated (1950's?). We asked for another room or an upgrade (which we offered to pay for) and were told that there was nothing else available. On a positive note the grounds of the resort were lovely and very well manicured which was why I was so shocked at our accomodations. I can only hope that the other units are much better but I would not recommend this resort based on my personal experience.

“Stay away from the hotel, part disgusting!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2009

I got in late from Harlingen this weekend from business and decided to stay in South Padre since its a short drive and I had never been. Unfortunately I was quite suprised that most of the hotels were booked except this one. I cannot comment on SAIDA towers because those are the condos and apparently are MUCH better taken care of than this dump of a hotel. There were only two rooms left and I opted to pay $175 for a "one bedroom condo type room". I was so tired I didnt inspect it and i went up to the room after paying the cash rate. Much to my dismay the looks were VERY deceiving!! The room looks old and cheap. The sheetrock was damaged and the management had used oversized curtains to cover it. The bathroom fixtures were old and looked dirty. There was nasty looking grout all over the place and the tiles were discolored. The bed was HARD as hell and the pillows were very cheap and uncomfortable. These people didnt even use fitted bedsheets so the bottom sheet kept coming off to expose the matteress. The other sheets smelled funny and were yellowed as well. The kitchen was decent, however, no ice machines or vending of any type is provided. Finally the actual floor of the place looked dingy and I found not ONE but TWO dead small cockroaches in the bedroom. As far as security of the place good luck, the security latch on the front door was broken so the housekeeper walked in on me while I was sleeping and the door also the handle of the bedroom came off in my hand!! OVERALL this place is pure trash and I could probably have found better accomodations at a motel six or even an hourly motel...STAY AWAY if you want to have a decent stay at Padre. I will say the only quality this hotel had was the view which wasnt even a full ocean view...
