My husband and I (we're in our 50's and 60's) try to go to South Beach Inn every April, since discovering it 5 years ago. South Padre is the place to be in April for kite boarders and wind surfers, because of the coastal breezes during that time of the year. People come from around the nation and the world to take advantage of the near perfect wind conditions and the beautiful waters of the Gulf. While my husband and I are not kite boarders or wind surfers, we enjoy sitting on the beach passing the day in the sun and watching them skim by us on the surf! It's a beautiful, colorful sight. South Beach Inn rooms are setup with kitchens and outside grills. Each evening we sit outside grilling steaks or red snapper and listening to the stories of the boarders and the surfers. We even get in a story or two about our day kayaking or trying to learn how to surf! There's a laundomat in Port Isabel close by, so there is no need to pack much. Leave room in your suitcase for souvineers from the turtle rescue center and the t-shirt shops. Walk the boardwalk at the nature center to see the resident alligator and migratory birds. Go on an eco-tour to see the unique species of dolphins found only at South Padre. South Beach Inn is perfect for people who enjoy clean rooms, a warm shower, and a shrimp boil. You feel a part of the South Padre local community.
Room Tip: Go to Joe's Seafood to buy fresh red snapper
