This is your standard Hampton Inn. The rooms are good sized and clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast is decent. It is conveniently located and I got the room for slightly less than comparable hotels in the same area. I was bothered by noise from nearby rooms, especially the room above (some people never sleep I guess), which surprised me because I stayed here once before and didn't notice it.

There is no Four Seasons in San Marcos....My excellent rating is based on a quiet hotel (slept great), with clean rooms, clean hallways, working ice machine, etc. Everything you want in a hotel in this category. The breakfast was very good, even for a picky 16-year old daughter. It is a trick to get through the parking lot (behind Chili's).

I was scheduled to stay at a cheaper hotel that also did well in reviews, but when we pulled in the neighborhood scared us off...(drug deal in the parking lot?)...we didn't even leave the car, just called and cancelled. We were happy to be at the Hampton.

We stayed here while shoppng at the outlet malls and really enjoyed it here. They have an awesome hot breakfast and very clean rooms. Close to all major area attractions.

Several small things made this hotel good and not great. The parking spaces are tiny. SUV’s took up one and a third spaces each. Smaller cars had very little room to open their doors. I decided to park in the back of the lot to avoid door dings. Our nonsmoking room had the distinct smell of chemicals trying to cover up the smoke smell. The hotel wasn’t dirty but it didn’t feels as clean as other Hamptons I have stayed in. On a positive note we called the hotel on our drive in and asked what exit to take. The front desk clerk was very friendly. She knew the exit number and even asked if we were north or southbound so that she could tell us if we would be turning left or right.
