Originally booked room on Xpedia. BIG MISTAKE! I was overcharged, given a "suite" when I didn't ask for one (more money) and charged 30% tax! RIP OFF!! I canceled those reservations and booked directly through Best Western online and got a much better rate.
Initially, we had requested two rooms next to each other. They were just one room apart, which was nice.
We had been checked in for an hour when we left for several hours. When we returned, the toilet had overflowed. The carpet was soaked in the vanity area. Staff were quick to come and bring towels but it became apparent that we would need a different room. They offered to help us move our bags to the new room, which was not far away. They were very helpful!!
We arrived for breakfast at 8:30. No staff on the premises. The waffle maker was not the usual type that you fill, close, and flip to wait for the "done" signal. There were no instructions. There was an on/off switch on the wall plug. Poured in the batter. We didn't wait long enough so the "waffle" stuck to both sides and had to be pried out! Finally went to the desk clerk who came back and said "They have to cook two minutes." There was no timer. She said "The light goes off when they are done." We saw a light but it did not go off. Had to ask for spray before we tried it again. Success.
So a mixed review. This was convenient. But we really wanted a swimming pool. The only two indoor pools in town were closed for repairs. The outdoor pools don't open until May. We will try somewhere else if we ever have to stay in San Angelo again. But from what I've read, there are worse places.
