“Not the best place but OK. Swing fell out of the roof when I sat down.”
The Swing
Yes, at about 9pm we came back from a great day in town. I sat on the porch swing outside our room on the 2nd floor and it pulled two 20 foot board out of the roof and I came crashing to the ground. I wasn't hurt that bad, but could have been (I am not obese at all, btw). We called management and the lady who answered the phone said the manager would be right down. Half an hour later, no one came. We called back and she said the manager had decided to take a look in the morning. No one bothered to let us know. We finally went to bed. Next morning, no one acknowledged anything had ever happened. When we checked out, I mentioned I was the one the swing had fallen on. Management smiled and said, "Oh, don't worry about a thing," as if she was letting ME off the hook for breaking her swing. Incredible.
The Noise
Based on reviews here indicating noise is a problem, we chose Norton Room because it didn't share walls with other rooms. Overall, noise wasn't a problem.
The Food
Delicious food, though they served the same menu both mornings we were there.
The Room
It has some character. I like the sense of history of the place. However, it isn't necessary for the linens to be from the late 1800s too. I swear the blanket I used was at least 20 years old.
