“unexpectedly relaxing Texas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2011

My sister and best friend met me in Corpus Christi and drove over to the 'island.' we rented a condo called El Cortez Villas which we knew of by word of mouth. It was very affordable, especially with 3 sharing, very clean and comfortable. I made sure to go AFTER Spring break was over.

We had housekeeping service and really enjoyed having a kitchen to make our own food. There was a shared grill area we used. You do need a car to go anywhere except the beach which was a short walk over the dunes. We found good places to eat, though only a couple of times because we had a kitchen. We thought there was not all that much to do in Corpus Christi, but did find a fun surfing museum and some shops in a little mall. I found it very relaxing to walk the beach with only a few fishermen (and families) it was very peaceful. We practically had the complex to ourselves after Sunday. I would go again.

“Nice Accomodations for the price! Room 230 Easter Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

Upon arrival I was given the keys to 203, we entered and discovered that the room had two full beds in the master and the one I reserved had a king bed. I went back to the office and complained that they gave me the wrong room. The lady explained that she had called me back the day I reserved and left a msg that my original room somehow was given away to an internet reservation. She corrected the problem by giving me a 2 bedroom and stated that they would lock off the 2nd bedroom. The room was large and nice and I found it to be a great value. It overlooked the pool which we used because the beach was so filled with seaweed my kids couldn't even play in the water. The only bad thing was the dead roaches in the kitchen cabinets. The exterminator had just treated this room and there were about 10 dead roaches. At least they were dead! NOTE to individual owners a blender and baking sheet would be nice addtions to the kitchen. Luckily the two retired ladies in 130 loaned us their blender. Strawberry daiquiris by the pool was a nice way to spend the afternoon.

“Will stay there again.”

We just spent a weekend at the El Cortes Villas in Port Aransas, and it was wonderful, everything we hoped for. It was just my husband and myself and we stayed in a one bedroom unit. I will admit that the facility is somewhat dated, certainly not luxurious, but definitely spacious and comfortable. Both the living room and bedroom had a ceiling fan and television in each room. The bathroom had a fully functioning washer and dryer. The kitchen was well equipped and the appliances were new and clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the facility was well maintained and nicely landscaped. The best part about this place is the two swimming pools. WOW. They were sparkling clean and beautiful. In addition, the price is so reasonable, $100/night, during the off season. The only drawback is that there is no view of the beach from this condo unit; but, that's why the price is so low. We like Port Aransas, and we plan to go back and stay at El Cortes again.

“Run down place with terrible management”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2011

We have been staying at this place for over 10+ years and the past few years that we have stayed have not been pleasant experiences. Rooms with old food in the beds and in between couches, ants in the room, a TV that caught on fire and we had to use the fire extinguisher, and rude service. When we complained about these incidents, management told us at first they would take care of things but they did not take care of anything. I was told I would recieve a free stay and then the management company sent me an email stating they would not extend their promise to me. For having stayed at this place for over 10 years you would think they would value loyal customers, but they have let the place go and obviously do not care. I would rather stay on the beach in a tent...it is probably more sanitary.

“UNIT 230 - Pride in Ownership - all are different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

We stayed in Unit 230 that overlooks the courtyard and pool. Very clean and nicely decorated. The condos are individually owned and these owners obviously have some taste and pride in ownership. The master bath looks like it was recently remodeled, the furniture was comfortable and good quality. The only downside for me was the 2nd bathroom (stand up shower only, small and needs remodeling), 1 couch was the old school 'condo furniture' style and the patio furniture was the cheap plastic table and chairs-- VERY minor compared to the rest of the unit which is very well maintained and comfortable including wet bar. The grounds were nice but there were lots of fire ant mounds and sticker bushes (welcome to TX!) The pool was clean and had a nice BBQ area. I only had interaction with one person in the office and even though she wasn't bubbly (which I find a little annoying anyway), she was cordial and not rude at all. They have boat parking and a fish cleaning house...nothing fancy but a nice little extra. What I liked the most about this property is that it's a small community and not the major multi-unit 'hotel' style condos that make you feel like you're herded in and stacked on top of each other. I also like the fact that it's close enough to the main part of Port Aransas to drive to or you can go maybe 1/4 mile up the road and take a shuttle from the Island Moorings Marina.
