They have no respect for the people that stay and tryed to make me pay for the door that was rotten and falling apart, he started screaming at us and threw a punch and my brother and grabbed him by the shirt!!! we had to call the cops and file a police report on our vacation...take my word dont go!!!

I had read these reviews before I left on a day trip to Port Aransas and thought I was prepared for rudeness when I walked into the Rock Cottages. Rudeness is not the way I would describe the manager of the Rock Cottages. He is EXTREMELY short tempered, easily offended, and ignorant of proper motel edict.
Here is my story: My husband and I went to Port Aransas for a day trip to check out hotels for our long vacation we’re planning next month and we wanted to have the perfect hotel. I had a list of places and the Rock Cottages IS the cheapest on the island. When we arrived everything was book, but we weren’t staying the night. When I walked into the Rock Cottage’s office I talked to the manager and asked him about the nights we would be staying while my husband was browsing the brochure rack. I then asked if there was any way we could perhaps see a room we would be renting. His nasty response was, “Do you not know how to read sign.” Which I had read (it said no vacancy). I was dumbfounded. I had not expected such a vicious response. Usually if a customer hasn’t checked in yet, the manager could at least let us just LOOK into the room. Even so a simple “no”, would have been fine. But no, things escalated from here. My husband heard the comment and told the manager to watch his attitude. And the manager yelled at him, “What you can’t read sign!” At this point my husband looked at ME and said,” Forget this (profanity here), let’s get out of here.” The manager heard this and started yelling to “(Profanity)… his mother!” This started a yelling match between my husband and the manager. The manager was practically coming over the desk shouting profanities shaking one hand at us, but I noticed he still had one hand under the counter. I believe he had his hand on some kind of weapon. At this point I was pushing my husband out the door to leave. My husband was so angry we went to talk to a police officer who said that they are always called out there because of difficulties between the manager and the customers.
We will never stay at this motel and I hope that my story aids you in choosing to find the right place for you on your trip. Thanks.

Read the reviews and make other plans lest you spend your precious vacation time sleeping in your car and filing a police report-then having to follow up for days afterwards with the credit card company concerning the charge dispute! The managers told us over the phone that we could arrive late-11pm-but then changed their minds AFTER they had charged my credit card. The husband physically threatened me when I requested the receipt that I had just signed. He was worse than rude-he was scary!

Worst encounter with an adult! The manager is a very angry man with no people skills to speak of. "We don't do service here!" is what he yelled at me when I asked for a change of sheets. This man had such a violent manner about him that I had police escort me while I checked out and into another hotel. The police say he is a constant problem. Need I advise you any more? AVOID!
