My stay at captains quarters inn this weekend was not what i was expecting to say the least. i had reserved a single king room and the first room i had was ATROCIOUS!

when i first walked in, i set my bag in the chair by the door, and the back of the chair just fell out. then the door would not close right, you had to fiddle it to get the dedbolt lock to engage. so then i make my way to the bathroom to take a shower. the fixtures for the faucet and shower head would move about 3-4 inches out from the wall when i would try and use them. the sheets on the bed also had cigarette burns all through out, it was like sleeping under a big piece of swiss cheese. and to make everything else worse, the remote for the tv did not work, so i could not even be sucessful at being lazy on my vacation. my room was pretty much falling apart left and right.

The second day i asked to be moved to another single king. this room was head over heels better than the first. no bad sheets, no messed up shower. all chairs were solid and the a/c unit in the room was newer and worked much better, and i finally had a working remote for the tv.

the continental breakfast was a joke. there were about 5 pop tarts, a few honey buns, some old cereal and some coffee and juice. the main office also wreaked of cigarettes.

i would not stay at the captains quarters inn again. i honestly wished i had just waited to get a room until i made it to port a, because if i had, i would have just kept on driving when i saw the captains quarters.

ive been going with my family for the past five or more years and we never had a problem we have had lots of good times there and we will continue to go as long as we can and i would recommend to anyone all the staff is wonderful.

Stayed for the weekend, will stay here again on my next trip. The location is perfect for fishing, just walk across the street to the charter boats! (Our group went with Dolphin Docks). Atmosphere is perfect for laid back Texas relaxation. Spent some time just chilling by the pool--met a couple of the staff members out there, they were polite and friendly. Price was right too! Can't wait to go back!

We've just returned from a disappointing weekend stay at the Captain's Quarters. While this hotel is in a great (and very quiet!) location on Port A, and looks decent-ish from the outside, the interiors aren't up to standard. Our room smelled very moldy/musty, even with the AC on, and featured an ancient microwave, sticky drawer handles and a very rusty fridge. Three of the bathroom floor tiles were cracked into pieces, there was a dirty cleaning rag over the shower rail and the bottom of the tub needed a good scrubbing! The towels were worn thin and dingy-looking, and one of ours even had a few mystery brown spots into the bargain. The "continental breakfast" was do-it-yourself pop tarts and bagels eaten on paper plates, accompanied by thermos coffee in styrofoam cups with powdered creamer. While the staff seemed nice enough, I wouldn't stay there again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know.
