My family and I just returned from a fun trip to Port A! We were very happy with how spacious (2 bedrooms and a kitchen) our cottage was. It was clean and there were no sign of cockroaches (thankfully!) unlike another review I read. My fisherman husband appreciated that there was a fish-cleaning hut right on the property and with the beach being only 2 blocks away, it was very easy for us to get to the beach quickly. This place was quaint and cute and we look forward to coming back and staying again!!

Spent a long weekend in Port Aransas in July and stayed at The Double Barr Cottages. Not only were the cottages so super cute and cozy, but they were only three blocks from beach! At a great price! The staff was very friendly and professional, they even let us use the pool at their sister property, The Mariner'. Thanks Shannon!

Aug 14,2011. We are just getting unpacked at home from our weekend stay at the double Barr cottages. It was a very nice stay fist off we headed that way Friday nite and when I made the reservations Tiffany tolad me the office closed at 10pm well I new we were going to be later than that so I called her back and she was amazingly kind and very willing to work with our late arrival, she even said she would turn the air on for us! The cute lil cottages were great everything we needed and we BBQ outside and hung out with some other renters in the cottage!! The rooms were a bit hot at times but all in all we had a great stay! Shannan the property manager was super nice and her son was a doll! Great people great place!!

We booked this cottage as there were very few available that were pet friendly the nights we needed. We went to see if we could check in early and the lady was very friendly and said we could. We went to our cottage and there was a horrible smell in the kitchen. Smelt of cat urine. We went back to see if there were any other cottages available and the lady was very sweet and apologetic. She moved us to another cottage. We went in and it smelt MUCH better. We started to unload as we looked around. The paneling is peeling from the walls, you can see the outside from the kitchen door, refrigerator has not been cleaned out (we found frozen pizza leftover in the freezer) the bath/shower had at least a foot of caulking that had been ate away with mold, mold around the faucet, inside cabinets were filthy. I dropped something behind the toilet and it was so dirty I almost left it there. Very sad, as these would be really adorable if they would fix them up. They need to sell these to individuals to rehab. You could do so much with these. It's obvious they are not using the money they make from the rooms to put back into them. If I see on others reviews that they are fixing them up we will be back because the location is great and pet friendly. Will not be back until they are updated and clean.
