Front desk was vacant at check in. I waited over 20 minutes. I called from the phone on the front desk counter and rung long and no one picked up at all. Finally, on my third call someone said they were away from the desk and busy setting up the basketball court for a soccer team staying at the hotel. When I wasn't trying to reach someone to check me in, the phone at the front desk counter was ringing continuously. I finally picked it up and it was an irate guest on an upper floor trying to get through -- I could relate.
Worse, I was assigned a room on the bottom floor near the lobby that was overflowing with young guests. I asked for a different room and the staff snidely said "NO WAY, you're with the team.' I was NOT with the team, don't know anything about the team, had no soccer players with me, etc. I did get the feeling the staff's rudeness was because they were harried and rushed because they were short staffed.
On the last night of our stay, past 11:00 pm, several folks were playing basketball or soccer in the room over us for over an hour and it was extremely loud. We had to get up early and so we called the front desk to complain. We had trouble getting through and initially, they did nothing -- the extremely loud noises continued with no change. After about our 3rd call, the desk person came to our room. Ironically, it was during a lull in the basketball game but she did wait to hear the extremely loud sounds and that was when she FINALLY put a stop to it -- but that was over 45 minutes after our initial complaint.
Otherwise, the room was nice and clean and breakfast was ok.
Bottom line is the hotel is severely understaffed. I got the feeling those at the desk were working as hard as they could but were spread way too thin.
I would NOT stay here again.
