“Unclean rooms. Hotel not prepared for 2 tour buses.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2011

There was food on the floor in our room when we entered and there was dust hanging from the lights in the bathroom. The heat/air unit was so loud I couldn't sleep well. Our tour bus arrived at 6 pm on Saturday 2/26/2011 and the restaurant was closed to paying guests. I was told by the desk clerk there was another tour group other than ours, Village Tours. Our group alone had 47 people. Your desk clerk answer was that there was a miscommunication. Seems to me tour groups schedule these reservations way ahead so there should not have been a miscommunication. After all I heard about South Fork I was greatly disappointed. If I am ever here again I will take photos as proof.

“Pleasantly Suprised!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

I was seriously concerned about staying here after reading the bad reviews. I booked on priceline (got an excellent rate), but was unable to cancel....which I wanted to after reading the reviews. However, we had a wonderful stay and was so pleasantly suprised!

The good's:
- Good size room
- Comfortable beds
- Fridge in the room
- Clean
- Very nice toiletries (better than average for sure)
- Convenient location
- Very nice front desk staff
- Restaurant staff nice (not the bar) and food pretty good
- Ample parking
- Very big and nice spa outside (pool looked great as well, but it was too cold outside to use)

Con's:
- Thin towels
- Bar drinks very, very weak- and rude service
- Location is convenient, but not the nicest/safest area
- No printers in business area (business area in general is a little weak)
- Door didn't close easily- you had to be really careful to make sure that it was closed/locked

We loved being right next to the spa and our patio door opened right up to the courtyard/spa....it was a nice treat for sure. All and all, we found the hotel to be just fine. Clean, comfortable, and very reasonably priced.

“Forget who shot J.R.......who shot Southfork??”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2010

I must have been on a different website when reviewing traveler comments on Southfork because prior to booking this hotel, i didn't remember seeing that many poor reviews.
The price seemed right ($70.00) and it was within five miles of UT-Dallas.

Upon arrival, the un-smiling clerk issued my room. This room would be considered fresh - back when they were shooting the "Dallas" series in the 70's. The hotel itself smelled like a nursing home for the elderly. The room was tired and smelled old. The bathroom door wouldnt close all the way and the bedsheets must have been the originals. Clearly, the ownership is running this joint on a shoe-string budget. For example, the so called "bath" towels were paper thin, from years and years of use.
The furniture was outdated and all rooms are stylishly equipped with those 500 lb box T.V.'s. Ever heard of flatscreens? They cost like next to nothing these days. These guys jumped into the hot tub time machine and brought back all their furniture from the Reagan years.....

And while most places now have free breakfast, these chumps will gladly charge you $11.00. That explains why i saw nobody in there eating. Shouldve gone down the road to Super 8 where at least the hookers are younger than the hotel furnishings.

“If you are traveling with dogs.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2010

We did stay in a newly remodeled room and found it to have such a wonderful Texas charm. Traveling with dogs and having to put up crates in the rooms there was enough room to do that when many of the newer hotels it's very cramped. I have found that many of the nicer hotels have much smaller rooms. There were elevators to get everything up stairs. That is for sure an added plus.

Food..their morning buffet was great and my salad I ate for lunch was the best....very different.

My only wish is it was closer to the Ranch. 15 minutes away if you are in traffic but there was no hotels closer to the Ranch which we enjoyed so much. Oh and the cookies!!!!
The freshly baked cookies still warm and fresh out of the oven upon checking out were
a touch of southern charm.

Just loved it!!!!

“Couldn't have been better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

After reading the previous reviews, I am assuming this hotel has been remodeled fairly recently. My stay there was just great--I was VERY impressed, considering I only paid $50 per night (AARP rate). The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room was very clean and nicely decorated (I was going to take some photos, but my camera battery was dead), the bed was super comfortable, and (very important) it was QUIET. I had actually been staying up the street at another hotel, and these are all along the SUPER NOISY Central Expressway, and moved to this one because a. I was hoping it would be quieter, and b. the price was right. I had assumed it would be around $85 - $95 per night, but evidently there was some special going on. I would definitely stay here again!
