I've NEVER slept on a comfortable mattress in an economy motel, but this Days Inn had a great Simmons Beautyrest pillow top mattress with two cotton covers (I had to remove the sheet to look). From the outside you'd thought this was your typical, cheap motel, but it has been totally remodeled, and it looks like they spared no expense. Stucco on the outside, new paint and interior - excellent; no smoke smell at all; no musty odor at all. They boasted of QUIET, cinder block construction, and it was that; very pleasant, hidden one-story motel. This was a Friday night after Thanksgiving and it was not even half full. ComfortAce pillows, cherry wood furniture, loaded with microwave, frig, iron, hair dryer, everything for $55 on a Friday night. I was impressed. The downside is the out of the way location on I-27 between Lubbock and Amarillo (not much vacation travel between these two cities). This is just wide-open cotton country. Palo Duro canyon is nearby, and the reason I'm visiting and coming this way from the south. This was the best low price motel I've ever stayed out; a few eating places are near by too. Motel is just off I-27; easy on/off access.
