Been to Dallas lots of times but this year decided to do the Southfork tour. Three adults and four kids. Cost less than 50 dollars for us all. Got ridiculous pic taken on entry. Then boarded a tractor with trailer to take us out to the grounds. The guides all knew their stuff. Tractor driver told us about all the out buildings and grounds. On arrival at the ranch another guide gave us a bit of history about the place and the show. We were then allowed to roam the house and take pics. It was very interesting. Apparently it was only the exterior shots that were done here. The rest was done in studios in California. An actual family lived in the house and stipulated that they could only film in the summer months when it did not disturb the kids schooling. JR and the rest of the cast must have roasted their butts off in the hottest part of the year. I was a fan of the show back in the day and found the tour good fun. We had a cool drink and ice creams for the kids in Miss Ellies deli. When we got back to the start the ridiculous pic was waiting and it was actually quite good. All in all, a fun thing to do. Even the kids who had no notion about the TV show enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the new show which has been shot more on location this time round.
