“Great little getaway in historic Gruene.”

We stayed here for a friends birthday. It was a really nice change and really different as far as hotels go. The layout and older-style wood floors were unique and gave the place a ton of character. It had a small, connected balcony that was just big enough that we could sit outside and hang out. It was close to historic Gruene, but not in the middle of the chaos (depends on what events are going on). The owners/managers were really friendly and the provided breakfast was good each day. We will be back here for sure. It was a lot of fun.

“Warm Cozy Inn”

My husband and I stayed in the Frio room of the Gruene River Inn. The room itself is small but the wall of windows and balcony overlooking the Comal River make the room feel much larger. The huge oversized jetted bathtub is a very nice plus. Inn was clean, cozy and smelled good. The breakfast tacos were excellent. When they say breakfast they mean a full breakfast, waffle maker and all. The view is excellent which overlooks New Braunfels and the Comal river. The inn sits on a high bluff so there is a trail down to the river and chairs to relax in. The trail is partway staired and then it is a rocky trail which I would recommend tennis shoes for. We walked into Gruene as did other couples staying there. It is less than a 1/2 mile walk and there is a bike lane that you can use. Made it very nice to not have to try to find parking in town. The only thing I would change on my next stay here would be to get a room on the second floor. When the guests above us came in at 1 a.m. we could hear every footstep. The bed was a little on the firm side for me but my husband had no complaints.

Room Tip: 2nd floor recommended.

“Can't beat the views!”

The views are excellent! The walk down to the river and back up is a work out, but fun.
We stayed in the Brazos room with a jacuzzi tub and it was very relaxing. The bed was just so-so, not all that great.

They sell beer and wine which is cool. We brought our own but it was nice to know they had it.

You're not "IN" Gruene, and the walk isn't very nice or safe, so keep that in mind. While it's not a far walk it is alongside a busy road with no sidewalk and at night cars can't see you.

I would recommend a top floor room since they have wood floors and they creak a lot. We stayed upstairs and I would imagine that our downstairs neighbors heard every step we took.

Room Tip: I would recommend a top floor room since they have wood floors and they creak a lot. We stayed upsta...

“Great service and great views”

My wife and I stayed here recently and had a great time. The hotel sits on a bluff overlooking the Guadalupe River, and as others have noted, the view from your room is indeed breathtaking, especially at night. The river winds along below you, and the green hills roll away to the distance. You and/or the kids can also go down to the river and go swimming if you like. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, and the overall feel of the place is easy-going and relaxed. Breakfast is available every morning in the lobby. The highlight was the breakfast tacos, but fruit, cereal, muffins, etc mean every taste is accommodated. One thing we loved was that there were two different home-made cakes available all the time--"help yourself." That was such a nice touch and it made us feel at home. Okay, the rooms are a little on the small side--the big king bed takes up most of it. But you're going to be out on your private patio anyway, so no matter. The bathroom by contrast is surprisingly big, with a big deep jacuzzi tub--an unexpected benefit. In fact the only thing we didn't like was the train noise. The trains that pass a few miles away blow their horns at intersections during the night. Since you're up so high that sound carries loud and clear to the room. It didn't really bother me too much, but my wife was less sanguine about it. Overall though we loved this place and would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: They all face the river, so you can't go wrong with any of them. There aren't any elevators...

“Excellent value and breathtaking views”

My girlfriend and I have stayed in several places in the New Braunsfels/Gruene area and the Gruene River Inn was by far and away our favorite. The property is newer, very clean and has spectactular views from every room. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is a B&B, but its more like a cozy inn. You have plenty of privacy and the hosts are sure to provide much needed ice, snacks, and a full breakfast every morning. It is built into the hillside over looking the river and there is actually a path right down to the riverbank where you can sit by and watch the tubers go by or grab a tube and jump in yourself. It is only a short walk to all of the best restuarants and shops Gruene has to offer and is very close to tubing and other recreation.

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and it was priced extremely reasonable for a holiday weekend, especially considering the prime location and that breakfast is included. We can't say enough good things about it this place. We will never stay anywhere else. ..

Absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway or fun weekend of play on the river!

Room Tip: 2nd Floor rooms are the best
