“Ashaig Isle of Skye”

I wrote a long review of Ashaig last year but i can't resist writing again. Sometimes when you revisit a place you can be disappointed if it doesn't live up to your memories. That is not the case with Ashaig. It really is a unique place to stay. I really honestly can't think of a single fault. The hosts hit exactly the right note they are very friendly and fun to talk to but respect everyone's privacy. They really want everyone to enjoy their stay and will put themselves out to make that happen.
The breakfast is remarkable. Exceptionally well cooked with fresh ingredients and the table looks inviting. The books and DVDs that can be used it your room are a nice touch for rainy evenings. And the internet is free. it was rainy and windy one evening but it didnt matter as we were so cosy watching TV in our really snug room propped up by lots of pillows. Once again the bed made it difficult to get up!! The bedroom is one of the cosiest I have stayed in and we do travel about a lot. It is a place you will want to revisit. We will certainly be there again next year.
The house is in what we regard as a perfect position, with lovely country views but near enough to Portree. And the scenery on Skye is magnificent .
Even the dogs are friendly and affectionate which is a bonus !
I just wish it wasn't such a long journey as it's too far from us for a quick weekend trip.
All in all if you are visiting Skye this really is the place to say. I know you will have no complaints.

We stayed at Ashaig for 4 nights and it was extremely comfortable and a quiet haven.
Colin and Kathleen are delightful hosts and provide everything that you could need at the B&B
A beautiful large breakfast to start your day, stunning surroundings and a quiet room for research and/ or DVD's if you need to check out the Isle.
The Isle of Skye is a spectacular destination and even the rain didn't dampen our enthusiasm.
We can certainly recommend Ashaig we had a lovely stay, thank you Colin and Kathleen.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Skye and at Ashaig. Everything was wonderful and the breakfasts were huge. We actually had to ask for less.
Colin and Kathleen are superb hosts and make everyone feel welcome. If we ever return to Skye, we will definitely stay here!

“Perfect!”

Stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend. Colin and Kathleen were very helpful both before and during the trip. The rooms and communal areas are homely but decorated and furnished to a high standard. The location was one of the best I saw on any B&B in Syke, right on the side of a loch but it feels in the middle of no-where and yet 10 minutes away from the local pub/restaurant.

Greeted on day one with a tray of tea and homemade scones, lemon curd. We were unbelievably lucky with 3 days of glorious sunshine on Skye and even saw a Golden Eagle at the Quiraing whilst walking (not serious walkers!).

Only thing to mention is that you are asked to be out between 10.30 and 4...this is common practice amongst all the B&Bs on Skye (and possibly others) but we had not encoutnered before so worth highlighting in case this is an issue for people.

Local restaurant, (the local pub) did good food, lots of local and homemade dishes - seemed better than previous reviews on here. Slightly limited menu but have obviously decided quality over quantity. Reasonable prices and very friendly staff.

“Outstanding!!!”

There is actually not much to say about the Ashaig B&B because everything was just fantastic and perfect! The owners of the place (Kathleen and Colin) are really nice and make you feel welcome from the very start although as non-native speakers we sometimes had problems to keep pace with their accent ;-). They keep telling stories about their kids, their dogs (which are totally lovely so that we fell in love with them instantly), the Isle of Skye and are willing to give any help you may need.
When driving to Ashaig B&B you get the notion that you are in the middle of nowhere (you definitely need a car to get there) but this the most charming thing about this place: the calm. The B&B premises offer a stunning view over a sealoch and in front of the house there is a garden which is kept immaculate.
We stayed for two nights in the en suite double bedroom which was spacious, tastefully decorated and offered everything you could wish for: TV with integrated DVD player (the hosts have a nice collection of DVDs available for free), hospitality tray, astonishing view over the loch, very spacious shower (actually granting space for three people), rack for suitcases, even a small first aid kit and a sewing kit and binoculars to enjoy every little detail of the landscape.
The breakfast was amazing!!! Scrambled eggs (provided by the hosts' own hens) with smoked salmon... hmmm, delicious! Home-made, freshly-prepared pancakes with lemon curd... so yummy!
It is no secret that the Isle of Skye itself is breathtakingly beautiful! But this B&B was definitely the best place on our Scotland trip, offering great value for money! Thank you so much, Kathleen and Colin!
