“Third visit to Lyndale House - it never fails to please.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Our visit to Lyndale is the first out of the main holiday season and it will not be our last. The roads are quiet, the beaches are beautiful, and the welcome from our hosts is as warm as ever. The cottage is comfortable and cosy, with all that you need for a stay on this magical island. This afternoon we have been to the Coral Beach near Dunvegan, where we were the only walkers in bright winter sunshine. Some attractions are open only for restricted hours, but the greeting you get everywhere lives up to that on previous trips to Skye. Although it is clearly a quiet season, there is no sense that the island has shut for the winter!

“Idyllic place to stay”

We stayed at this lovely place, Lyndale, again - we'd stayed here last year and vowed to return. It was just as beautiful and peacefull as I'd remembered, if not better. The cottage was still cosy and warm and elegant and there are the lovely Lyndale grounds where you can walk amongst the trees or down to the isolated beach and gaze out to the Outer Hebrides - clearly visible when the sun shines. Yet still easy to get out and about and visit the rest of this beautiful island. Well, we've vowed to come again just as soon as we get chance.

“Comfrtable, warm & friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

We stayed at the Gate Lodge for a few days - it couldn't have been nicer. An ideal spot for touring the gorgeous Isle of Skye, with a lovely cosy cottage to return to.
A big THANK YOU to Linda & Marcus for being such great hosts

“Idyllic Lyndale”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2009

The perfect antidote to modern life. We spent an idyllic holiday at Lyndaleon Skye. Lazy lunches of fishing-boat fresh langoustine and crab before strolling on the white sands of Shell Beach. Exploring ancient burial mounds and archeological sites before discovering the ruined cathedral of the Isles hidden on a river-island at Skeabost.
Another day cruising a sea loch watching seals, sea-birds and dolphins – a driftwood fired sausage lunch on a remote rocky beach. And finally, most spectacularly, an evening warmed by a roaring log fire and a single malt, idly watching a blood red sun melt into the gunmetal seas off The Hebrides.
Lyndale’s idyllic and central location on Skye gave us easy access to the whole island and at a secluded hideaway where we could simply beachcomb or just watch the sunset..

“Lyndale House is in a magical and serene location, which allows you to unwind easily.”

We recently stayed at the Gate Lodge which is located at the head of the drive to Lyndale House.
This is a beautiful "pepper pot" style 2 bedroom cottage which is light and airy but also snug and warm at night.
The kitchen is well equipped and the Rayburn stove is easy to use, the wood burner gave a lovely warm glow at night.
We found Linda and Marcus most helpful with useful tips of places to visit on Skye.
Lyndale House itself looks over the loch and has beautiful sunsets.
We found the location really good for exploring Skye with its wonderful scenery.
Would recommend visits out to Glen Brittle, The Cuillins and the Trotternish peninsula.
We had a couple of lovely walks out to the ligthouse at Neist Point and also a short walk near Portreee. We would recommend a visit to Loch Bay too.
Definitely worth the visit it was one of our most memorable holidays with some good food to be found at the various restaurants dotted round the island.
We will visit again
