“Quirky enjoyable lodge, good location for exploring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

Really enjoyed staying here, superb staff who really know how to run a small hotel.

The food is of really good standard, with a surprising large choice for such a small venue.

The room we stayed in was on the small size but very very comfortable.

there are not many walks in the immediate location, but it provides a very relaxing hub to go off exploring.

Its a quirky comfortale place with their real strenght lying in their service.

“Very friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

Although we did not stay at the hotel, I wanted to give them a review as I was impressed with their service when we ate there.

We had taken our dog along, not realising that dogs were not allowed in the bar while food was being served. Because of this we decided to stay outside, but were soon descended on by the dreaded midges. One of the barmaids very kindly let us put our dog in her car, while we went in and had dinner. She was then allowed in the bar once everyone had finished eating. They also provided her with a big bowl of water and some dog biscuits.

The food was tasty and reasonably priced, and there was a good selection of drinks. The barman that was on was also very friendly.

All in all we enjoyed our time here.

“A wee bit different!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

We stayed here for 1 night and had the breakfast and also had dinner - the food was lovely and no complaints at all - the couple are lovely and I spent most of my time speaking to the lady owner who is a devout dog lover - if you want to stay somewhere a wee bit different then this place is for you - its very clean but bear in mind the Lodge was built in the 1500's so its not a modern buidling so those that prefer a Hilton and Marriott - well it isnt coz its a lot older! I would recommend others to stay here as the food was good and i honestly could not say a bad word about the owners except how welcoming they were

“like going back home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2010

Went to the lodge about 6 years ago and i liked it then and i like it now, yes its not a 5 star hotel but its comfortable clean and worth every penny i spent there. The food is of a high standard and we ate there for the 3 nights the kids loved it which is the main thing as it is difficult if the kids dont like somewhere. I will go back again next time i come to skye.

“Ramshackle Splendour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2010

Just looking through some of the other reviews, I think a lot of people are completely missing the point of the Lodge at Edinbane. This was our second visit and the reason we went back was because we liked the friendly and highly unusual atmosphere. The place is full of character. If someone wants perfection, they should really stay at a Marriott, a Best Western or something. In fact I’d seriously question whether they should even visit the West Coast of Scotland in the first place. Skye isn’t a website, it’s a real place. Welcome to reality. The Lodge at Edinbane is more of an “experience” and I can guarantee you will never have stayed anywhere quite like it. I can only suppose that the people writing the sneaky negative reviews probably had something in their manner or general attitude which irritated Hazel in some way!..... which probably isn’t such a good idea......?
So anyway this was our second visit, we loved the hospitality, the room, the log fire, Karl’s aquarium, the food, the beer from the Skye Brewery, the list just goes on and on. Our room was decorated in Peter and Hazel’s own inimitable style. It had a very impressive brass bedstead and an extremely “swish” shower cubicle. We will definitely return to the Lodge at Edinbane one day.
And if you are still in need of further entertainment may I suggest you visit the pottery next door where you can marvel at the price tags of the watercolours on sale.
