The good stuff: We went with Thomson 14 to 21 Jan. We agree with all the good things other reviewers have recently said, i.e. Thomson rep (Rachel) ace, (and the other ones we met), cleanliness excellent, good condition, lovely and quiet despite being in the centre of town. Didn't bother with the safe, but did use the telly and unlike many hotels abroad from UK found a good range of English language channels inc. BBC. The bed was hard as someone said, it is large and unlike the other reviewer we loved it.
The apartments are well situated for restaurants of which there are a profusion mostly very good value. There is a service bus stop one block away from which you can travel to all areas of the island with only one change (Los Cristianos), also both Thomson and the hotel can book various trips, plus there are stops locally for free buses to some attractions.
We don't usually go on packages, but having seen how well Thomson coped a year previously with the Tunisia crisis, we went with them and were not disappointed. All travel arrangements went like clockwork.
Don't think anyone mentioned the weather, but in Tenerife esp. the SW it is extremely reliable, c.20C every day in Jan and hardly ever rains. Not at all like home!
Just a couple of niggles: a) if you do want to cook, at least in a studio, facilities are extremely limited- no hot oven, and the hob is miniscule, and the extractor pipe did not fit the wall & blew back cooking smells b) nothing to do with the apartments, the Thomson flights were the most uncomfortable my wife and I have been on by a mile, horrible seats, both planes 100% full & I would swear the smallest legroom ever.
