“Terrific Tenerife”

The good stuff: We went with Thomson 14 to 21 Jan. We agree with all the good things other reviewers have recently said, i.e. Thomson rep (Rachel) ace, (and the other ones we met), cleanliness excellent, good condition, lovely and quiet despite being in the centre of town. Didn't bother with the safe, but did use the telly and unlike many hotels abroad from UK found a good range of English language channels inc. BBC. The bed was hard as someone said, it is large and unlike the other reviewer we loved it.
The apartments are well situated for restaurants of which there are a profusion mostly very good value. There is a service bus stop one block away from which you can travel to all areas of the island with only one change (Los Cristianos), also both Thomson and the hotel can book various trips, plus there are stops locally for free buses to some attractions.
We don't usually go on packages, but having seen how well Thomson coped a year previously with the Tunisia crisis, we went with them and were not disappointed. All travel arrangements went like clockwork.
Don't think anyone mentioned the weather, but in Tenerife esp. the SW it is extremely reliable, c.20C every day in Jan and hardly ever rains. Not at all like home!
Just a couple of niggles: a) if you do want to cook, at least in a studio, facilities are extremely limited- no hot oven, and the hob is miniscule, and the extractor pipe did not fit the wall & blew back cooking smells b) nothing to do with the apartments, the Thomson flights were the most uncomfortable my wife and I have been on by a mile, horrible seats, both planes 100% full & I would swear the smallest legroom ever.

Room Tip: Both poolside and outward facing available. We did not specify and got outward (324)facing over a fo...

“Lovely clean apartments in a great location.”

We stayed at the Colon ll apartments after reading the good reviews on trip advisor, we were not disapointed. After a smooth check-in we went to our ground floor apartment which we found to be spotlessly clean. We hired a safe for 15 Euros plus a 10 Euro deposit, we decided against hiring the TV as we didn't intend to spend much of our holiday in the apartment watching it! We discovered after a few days that there were two channels of music that you could have piped into your room. The rooms were cleaned almost every day and the cleaners appeared to be on the go for most of the day keeping the complex clean.
During our stay we never had any problems getting a sun bed around the pool, but there always seemed to be a mad scramble at 9.00am when they were unchained.
The only negative thing that I can say about the apartments is that the beds were really hard and made me have an aching back, my wife however said that she didn't have any problems sleeping.
We never ate at the poolside bar during the day, however we did eat at the restaurant on site, Mamma Rosa's, and the food and service in there was excellent if a little expensive. My wife and I had a three course meal and it cost 75 Euros.
There are plenty of supermarkets close by, a small one over the road from the entrance, an Iceland to the right as you go out the front door and if you go right then right again and go up the hill there are two more bigger ones including a Hyperdino.
We ate at Sugar and Spice, left out of the front door, they did a very reasonable set menu that is certainly worth trying. We also ate at three restaurants in the Safari centre, Bombay Blue an Indian restaurant, Embrujo, traditional Spanish food and Hacienda Miranda, tex mex. Out of these three I would recommend Embrujo as my favourite, they even have a band and Flamenco dancers from about 9.00pm, so if you time your meal you can enjoy this at the same time. I felt the Indian was not as good as ones that I go to at home, but for some reason they never seem to be in Spain! The Tex Mex was quite bland and was a bit of a disappointment as my wife and I both enjoy Mexican food. We also went to La Paloma which was a lovely little restaurant in Los Christianos where we had a lovely selection of Tapas for 20 Euros.
We also went to the fish and chip shop over the road and left a little from the entrance to the Colon ll apartments which was very good.
We often walked along the sea front to Los Chistianos or in the other direction to Costa Adeje and La Caleta. This is a lovely walk with plenty of bars selling the local beer for 1 euro. We went to the local festival in LA Caleta one day and enjoyed watching the locals having a good time.
The apartments are in a great central position to be able to explore the places that I have mentioned and I would certainly recommend them to other holiday makers.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the pool do not get any sun, the ones on the other side overlook an alley thou...

“Beautiful apartments”

Having just returned from these apartments,, had to write a review.Absolutely gorgeous apartments, spotlessly clean, and had everything you need for a self catering holiday.Didn't try the on-site restaurant, though was told it was lovely. The cafe/snack bar at the front of the apartments was fantastic,, spent many an hour after a lush day on the beach,, sitting here, watching the world go by.Would definately recommend these apartments,, room 209,, had sun on the balcony all day,,,, wish we were back there,,,,,,

“Collonll”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Collon ll is in the centre of town, the staff are a credit to the complex, as is Rachel the Tompson rep, she has a book swop and also various items you may need. The safe is 15E + deposit per week, the TV is 10E + deposit per week. There is no soap, fairy liquid or bottled water in flats on arrival. the snack bar at the front and poolside is value for money and delicious made from mamma rosa kitchens, during the evening to eat in the restaurant is a treat but expensive the food is fantastic. The only down side are the beds and pillows which feel as if you are sleeping on the floor hence we didn't have a nights sleep . we over- looked the pool it was funny watching everyone trying to get sun beds then just leaving their towels there for the day. To shop a new iceland has opened right out of building walk along cross road then its in front of you, there are seven ramps to walk down. If baby milk is needed take your own! SMA is 21E 43C per tin. Across from Collonll is Las Rosas this is a nice restaurant, at the side there is a pathway to beach. If you turn left out of Collonll walk along take third turning left there you will find lots of nice shops. You can walk into Los Cristianos this way as well, Sunday market there. Another walk is down to beach turn right and just keep walking there you will come to a lido its lovely in there, if you are lucky there is a man who paints he sits on the walk way and will draw pictures of whatever name you write for him he is usually there in the afternoons.
