“Wasnt too bad but definately wasnt brilliant!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2007

We just got back from our 1 week stay at Paraiso del sol, reception were helpful as soon as we arrived. We werent actually staying at Paraiso del sol though it was Paraderio 1 which had a very steep hill and a bit of a walk as well which we werent impressed about as we had our suitcases to carry which werent light! The room itself was fine clean, quite spacious and had a nice balcony. Cleaners everyday fresh towels. We had to pay for the TV which worked out about 4 euros a day which didnt break the bank but a bit cheeky i thought!
There were two pool one was slightly quiet but there were so many rules around the pool, no lilos,no balls,no music! I actually got told off as soon as I got in the pool on a lilo!
The breakfast there was horrible (and im not fussy!) So we ate out every morning and evening. The location itself was good though was about a 5 minute walk to the main strip, go to Anthonys Bar the PRs there are great! I would definately go back there the weather was superb but I wouldnt stay at the Paraiso Del Sol again in a hurry. Also the Drop Inn was great a restaurent at the bottom of the road from the hotel is great, great food and entertainment.

  • Liked — The room because it was clean and spacious
  • Disliked — Where the apartment was situated with the hill and the rules around the pool!!

stayed here for 1 week half board, apts clean &comfortable maid service ok but oh' what a treck to get to the apts, down a long hill turn the corner another hill across a bridge underneath is a deep ravine by the time you got there u were exhausted, by the way we are only in our fifties we had the same trek back when we were going for our meals as we were half board,we are quite easily pleased when it comes to food, but what was there was not very appetising ok if you were a vegetarian it was always lukewarm as was the water for the tea i have never eaten so much salad stuff before at least i knew what i was eating i do not think they cater for the british public at all ,it has not put me off going back to tenerife but a different venue ,we will go self catering might i add the staff were all so friendly and helpful the maid service was second to none by the way there is a british chippy around the corner next to linnekers bar very tasty real chips

“Surprise at paradero? paraiso?!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2007

We booked online in order to get a studio flat at the Paraiso del Sol in Playa de Las Americas. As soon as we got there we were given a studio flat at Paradero, which seems a hotel chain within the Paraiso name. The were given the worst studio flat, which is to say flat surrounded by nets and barbed wires, accessibles only after crossing a big and filthy outdoor sewer full of rubbish. This sewer separates the Paradero Fase II flats from the Paradero Fase I. There are armed security guards, and the receptionists told us not to leave the glass doors open at night: that’s both for our own protection and for the mosquitos and the cockroaches who might get in (and you find them aplenty)
The flats have low ceiling and are very hot inside. Besides they are not very clean.
they are in rows and night disturbances are quite frequent.
We asked to change flat and we switched to Paradero Fase I. It was better.
When we asked for a change of flat, the receptionists tried to persuede us that nothing would have changed and put off when we tried to understand the reason why we could not book into Paraiso del Sol instead of Paradero.
We managed to get a glimpse into the Paraiso del Sol area and we were taken by surprise noticing that both service and maintenance are carried out by the Coral hotel staff, while there are other staff working at Paradero
Whether next time we would not find Paraiso del Sol flats and we got offered those at Paradero’s we would call the local police. It was not written Paradero on our booking confirmation, though

“Not as bad as expected!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2007

Second time to Tenerife- the first time my boyfriend and I could afford to stay in Hotel Gala- and we knew the Paraiso Apartments could not live up to that! But things were much better than expected...

Arrived in Tenerife at two in the morning so was understandably knackered! But compliments to Reception, who provided fast and friendly service and got us to our room efficiently. Reception and staff were great all holiday actually.

The Paraiso del Sol Apartments is a huge complex, sort of split into two sections- Paradero 1 and 2. There is also a third section, which are quieter apartments where we went on our last day when we requested a late checkout room. We were in Paradero 1. It is about a 5 minute walk to get to Reception from where we were staying. N.b: There are lots of steps- I would definately not reccommend these apartments for disabled facilities- which is quite a hassle when you arrive with suitcases (although the nice porter staff voluntarily carried my case for me both ways- advantage of being a woman!)

Our apartment was right next to one of the pools, which was great,. There are two pools we visited- both clean and well-kept. The apartment itself was much better than expected. Our apartment was a large open-plan room with a seperate toilet. We were self-catering, and the kitchen (which runs alongside the apartment so you sleep in the same room that you cook in [sounds worse than it is!]) was very clean and we had all the utensils we needed. N.b: you don't get any cleaning products in the apartment and the hob is terrible! We had to turn on all three knobs before it began to heat up and it takes about 10 minutes to heat and 30 minutes to cool down!

They had obviously tried to make the best of the view alongside the complex- in Playa De Las Americas there is a long empty concrete canal-like walkway (not sure what it is exactly) by planting lovely flowers and green grass so we did not mind about that. Also, the balcony we had was huge, which was great. N.b: DON'T feed the pigeons (except in Linekars Bar! Tell you about that later on!) because they come back every day and poop on the lovely clean patio!

The beds are fine (excluding the pillows- which are horrible and hard- I woke up with neck pain every morning without fail!) and the maid came in near on every day to make the beds and change towels. No complaints about the service from the Paraiso Del Sol at all- one night we got our key stuck in the safe, so we called Reception who sent a technician immediately and he repaired the fault in minutes. So top marks there!

There's lots of wardrobe space (actually, there's just lots of space!) in the apartments, and we had a kettle, good-sized fridge with a freezer compartment, coffee machine, toaster, all cutlery and plates, bowls etc.

The location is good- about a ten minute walk from Veronica's and the beach. N.b: Veronica's is NOT the place to spend your night! The best bars are by far the ones next to Tramps- I know, I have been twice now! Linekers and Yates deserve special mentions! Linekers has an amazing atmosphere- they have a song- Feed the Pigeons- which they get the whole bar dancing along to! Search it on uTube.

Overall, the Paraiso Del Sol Apartments are great for a low budget holiday but if you can afford it go to the Gala- you can't beat it (and it's location!). But Paraiso will not dissapoint unless you are extremely fussy!

  • Liked — The great service
  • Disliked — The pillows, hob and walk to the beach

“Very pleasantly surprised!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2007

We initially booked to stay in the Paraiso del Sol and after being dropped to that reception we were given our keys and taken to Paradero 1. Check in was fast and friendly and a map was provided by the receptionist to show how to get in at night, when certain doors were shut for security (which got a bit annoying but made it a safer place to stay i suppose!)
Our room was clean and tidy, spacious and comfortable. The cleaners called daily and respected when you placed the hanger outside to say not now, and came back later. They didn't clean the floors however which were filthy, my only real criticism.
We asked at reception as we had a few problems with broken equipment and no hot water initially. Within an hour these were completely resolved and the staff were very frendly and helpful.
The evenings at the bar were very good value and great fun.
I was very pleasantly surprised by these apartments as I was expecting very basic and slightly stomach wrenching ugliness. I enjoyed my stay and would go back again.

  • Liked — The staff, the kitchen and bathroom, choice of 3 pools.
  • Disliked — The dirty floors, the lack of tin opener, my heat in rooms and my lumpy pillow!
