“Bargain February sunbreak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2011

We were pleasantly suprised at the quality of this 3 star hotel. The reception staff were very professional and the wating staff curtious and efficient. The location was great as the hotel pools and bar area lead naturally onto a quiet beach (at the time we were there anyway). Going half board was a great option and at £250 per person for a week during half term holidays. The food way surpassed any other 3 star hotels that we have stayed in and whilst you did need to be selective over the meat dishes the salads and fresh fruit options were excellent.
Notes of cautions: For us only hearing one other set of english voices in a week was a real bonus; for others it might not be (80% German and SAGA plus some!). It was very quiet at night which suited us. Beds are very firm and there is no hair dryer.

“Beatiful, but if food is important to you, stay somewhere else”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2010

First of all impresions were not great when we arrived at this hotel around 10pm after being traveling from 9am that morning, because of the man behind reception. We were the only couple there but he stood as spoke to his friend and made us feel like we were being ignored. When we got to our room, it was ok sized, had a table and chair in the corner of the room which was handy. The balcony was good, you could see to the beach. Bathroom ok, just what you would expect, small but clean. No air con in our room so we had to sleep with balcony door open, which did not bother us but the bin men came around 5 in the morning which did wake us. It was a basicaly a german hotel, no other british couples that we came across. Food looked great, but it was so bland, no taste to anything. The pool was the highlight of this hotel, there were 2 large pools and a jacuzzi. We spent all our time here, there was music and a bar. The hotel was nice looking and it did have a little shop which was handy for juice, magazine's ect. There were around 5 stray cats roaming around too which were sweet. The area was quiet, only a few resturants dotted around. There were busses to maspalomas, but I prefered to take a taxi as it was so much quicker and cost around 5 euros each way.
I would not stay here again.

“Cheap and cheerful”

This just about sums this place up.
Lovely grounds. Rooms are very basic. Don't forget your hairdryer, and your shower gel/ shampoo. We've always had these supplied.
Plenty of food. Very samey ,. Fabulous icecream. Great to take small children, if you don't want to spend any money. Long way to the beach.149 steps. Nothing down there when you get there.
About 1 hours walk to Playas Inglis

“A very relaxing and enjoyable trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2009

My friend and I booked this hotel last minute through the internet with a german travel agency. We chose it because it got quiete good ratings. We paid around 590 Euros for 10 days (breakfast + dinner) and we were not disappointed.
The hotel is in San Agustin, a very quiet town which is only 5 km away from Playa del Ingles ( this is were the clubs, casinos and shopping malls are). There is public transportation and the cabs are quiet cheap aswell.
The hotel is situated right next to the beach ( with dark sand). Its usually calm, but more crowded on the weekends. Thats when a lot of the spanish/ canarians come there to tan. One thing i ve noticed is there is no one trying to sell any melons, watches, bikinis or whatever. Maybe thats what makes it so relaxing.
The hotel pool is very nice aswell, but more crowded.
The hotel has 1 restaurant were breakfast , lunch and dinner were served and a pool bar that serves lunch aswell as drinks at night.
The food was quiete good, not outstanding, but tasty. There was enough variety though and the fruits and veggies were always fresh.
The staff in the hotel was rather friendly, especially the waiters.
The receptionist was also nice enough to recommend places we could visit.
It was only on our last day when were annoyed with the reception staff. Since we were supposed to check out at 11 but had a flight late in the afternoon, we were promised a room to ourself where we could still shower etc. But it then turned out that we only had max 30 min in that room because we had to share the shower with others.
We received this info on quiete short notice so we ended up rushing.
Worth seeing are the dunes of Maspalomas, Puerto Rico( nice beach) and its also worth driving through the mountains towards Puerto de la Aldea ( in the west). You can even see Tenerife from there.
The nght life in San Agustin is pretty much nonexistant. But thats ok, otherwise the nights wouldnt have been so quiet. Although, there is some entertainment at night
beside the pool bar.
Playa del Ingles ( which is a 5 min drive only) has a lot of clubs, bars and shopping malls. The night life is comparable to Mallorca ´s El Arenal with a lot of young people and many promoters who try to get you into their club no matter what. If you say "maybe later", they like to cuss you out or throw things at you.
Oh and if you like sea food, you ll definetely find enough restaurants to choose from.

To sum up, I would say that the hotel is worth booking, especially considering the price we payed and the great location. Its generally a good place for older people, couples or those who want both : relaxation and occasional partying.

“Overbooked despite a booking, its a rule”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2009

I frequently visit the area form the UK on business. On three consecutive occasions over the last year, despite having a valid booking, I have been greeted by a receptionist stating that there was no room for me. I am always invited to go to their nearby "sister hotel" IFA atlantic club (see review).
There seems to be a pattern. Business visitors are shipped away because they are not staying long enough. Disappointing also considering that the hotel across the road, Iberico, is the same price and certainly more welcoming.
