Overall we had a brilliant holiday. We went from 5th-12th May 2012, and the weather was fantastic!! We arrived at 11.30pm on the Saturday night and an English lady checked us in, very helpful and friendly. The rest of the staff are Spanish with not alot of English, but are very nice and helpful!! You have to leave a 50 euro deposit that you get back when you check out. The safes (which are located in reception) are 15 euros for the week or 3 euro per day, with a 3 euro deposit required also! Ladies- take your hair-dryer!! There isn't one in the room and it's 12euros to hire one!! No TV's in the room either, they are also available to hire but we didn't mind this one bit as we had our ipod dock station with us and music was enough for the amount we were in the room! If you want a tv, its 35 euro for the week. Air conditioning has to be hired also but im not sure how much it is as to be honest we didnt need it. Rooms are spacious with nice kitchen area, table and chairs, double bed and also a sofa bed! The balcony and views from our room was amazing, we were on the 4th floor, pool view, and looking out over the beach, it was lovely! There is a bath and shower in it also. Clean & Spacious, nothing fancy about it, just good value for money!! The lift is scary as its so small, so if you are claustrophobic I would really recommend a lower floor!! Didnt see anyone ever using it!! There are 2 pools, one big and one kiddies pool. The kiddies pool is situated up a small lock of steps in its own semi-enclosed area so it would be really good if you had kids and wanted to keep a good eye on them!! You have to rent a sun-bed at 2 euro per day if you want one!! It says you cant drink your own drinks at the pool, but that didn't stop us and no1 said a thing to us! It was 3.20 euro a pint and 4.60 euro for a vodka and white in their bar. The pool bar closes at 7.30pm each evening and there is a bar upstairs that opens in the evening then from 8-10pm. There is also a small shop located in the hotel that sells milk, bread, alcohol, snacks, etc. which is quite good although it is a good bit more expensive than the supermarkets down the town!
This hotel is located WAY up a hill (hence the class views) therefore you do need to go up & down steps to get to it...The steps are located about 10 meters down the road and take you directly down from the hotel road to the strip! I wont lie- They are a killer!! Young, old, big, small I don't think anyone would enjoy them!! You couldn't manage if you had small kids- it would be a nightmare. I got extra drunk at night so I wouldn't remember coming up them again, haha!! This is the only thing would put me off from staying in this hotel again. The 150 steps!! However, you can by-pass the steps by taking a left turn when coming out of the hotel, this way it takes about 20mins to walk around and end-up down at the strip ;)
Santa Ponsa itself was very mixed with Young and Old. Predominately Irish which was great!! A far cry from Magaluf!! Lovely atmosphere out & about, great for Irish bars, not clubby at all which we didn't mind as Id rather have a good bar to drink in!!! Eat at xoses, near the beach..lovely food!! Daniels corner on the strip- great offers on drinks..and seans place & dirty nellys is good for live bands at night-time!! There are a few 'dolls' on the street but definitely aren't as annoying as in Magaluf!! A pint in the bars range from 1.50-3.00 euro for local beer & 2 vodka with mixer is 6.50 euros in most bars! The beach is lovely too and nice for a romantic evening stroll!!!! There is 1 24 hr shop way down by mc donalds! The english papers are in 1 shop also near xoses cafe across from the beach ;) We will be back!!! ENJOY !! XX
