Just returned from the Miranda Hotel. If you want an inexpensive break this is for you.
Superb location, 5 mins from the centre but far enough away to be very peaceful.
Rooms basic but adequate, bathroom on the small side but ok, all the staff very friendly, Linda is a Star! Would go again, and would reccomend others to go. 20-25 mins from airport. Our first visit to Santa Ponsa, a really nice place and superb beach. As I said at the beginning, I can't really fault this hotel.

Booked this hotel at the very last minute & arrived at 130am with my mum & my one year old baby to be told they hadnt received payment even though we had our travel voucher! We ask could we just have our key & we'd get it sorted out in the morning but he lifted our luggage & pram & put them outside & told us to leave. Lucky enough we had family staying in a nearby hotel so we decided to go to them until the next day. We had to walk about a mile which would usually be ok but having just stepped off the plane at that time of the morning with all our luggage & a baby - not very nice!! we went back the next day to meet Linda - the owner - (who I can only describe as Pig Ignorant & Anti Irish) who told us she hadnt received payment for the room even though the bank & Alpharooms confirmed it had been paid & told us our kind of people were troublemakers. We tried to explain we had no more money for accomodation elsewhere & could we please just have our key but she seemed more upset that she'd been woken up the night before at 130 by her husband to explain that we'd arrived. She shouted that she'd been waiting on us all day to arrive which I found very strange as if she hadnt received payment why was she waiting on us to arrive!!! We were forced to leave & Alphrooms were no better in helping us & basically left us stranded in santa Ponsa. What was supposed to be a relaxing holiday for my mum turned into a holiday from hell thanks to Alphrooms & The Miranda Hotel. If your looking for a cheap last minute holiday which we were & thought the Miranda was what we were looking for take my advice & go elsewhere!!

This is (i know its been said several times already) a ONE star hotel. Therefore it is good value for what you pay. There are no lifts (2 storey), no tea/coffee making facilities,
no soap or 'freebies' in the bathroom, no aircon and some dogs around the neighbourhood because it is on a side street away from the main drag. OK! Having said all that, if you want an excellent location, safe, clean, friendly hotel, then this is for you.
Linda is fab, very helpful and checks that you are 'ok' all the time or she's just 'popping out' do you need anything? Breakfast is a cold buffet as has been described with as much toast and tea as you like (do you want a cup or a mug?). The beach is down the (flat) street and round the corner and is lovely. The area has plenty restaurants of all different cuisines and shops. Santa ponsa itself is clean and feels safe. For anyone wanting to venture farther out, there is a taxi rank in front of the beach. This is basically a nice,clean,safe hotel to stay in and because it is small you get to know all the faces and are always greeted with a smile from everyone, especially out on one of the two terraces or pool area, yet left in peace to chill if you wish.
The downside? The beds! they have plastic mattress covers and are quite hard.
The rooms are small and the bathrooms tiny but clean, there are no sea views because you are in a street, but you can still chill out on the balconies. Overall a nice little place.

I stayed here in 2008 (Aug) with my daughter (age 13.). I didn't have a lot of money to spend but we'd never had a holiday abroad so I took a chance on the Miranda Hotel. What an absolute pleasure!! Yes, it was a bit hot at night (no air conditioning) but we were provided with a fan which worked well enough. The staff were fantastic especially Linda who could'nt do enough for us!! The rooms were basic but what more did we need? It really annoys me to hear of people booking what is obviously a basic hotel then complaining at every turn. What did you expect? Our rooms were clean. Beds made, linen/towels changed often enough. It strikes me that if you go somewhere with a superior attitide you are not going to endear yourself to the staff wherever you are.
This doesn't mean you have to accept sub-standard treatment, but maybe, "what we sow, we reap"
