“nice holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2009

We (me, husband and 4 years baby) spent a nice holiday beginning June. The hotel was clean, nice personnel, eating was good enough for us - Italian!!! Price was honest!!!! Entertaining was ok, in particular for the baby. Just one negative point: the hotel does not prepare any "Packet Lunch" if you want to stay out for lunch, even if the tour operator says the hotel prepares it.
Santa Ponsa is a nice town, but it's a pity not discovering the island.
bye

“4* delfin siesta mar!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2008

we have just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel,we being 5 adults and one child.first impressions are good, nice clean hotel.we arrived at 10am and were dealt with quickly and efficiently by reception and given adjoining rooms as requested.rooms were of an average size, quite large bathrooms,i saw no sign of any broken tiles or painted baths as other guests have mentioned in any of the three rooms we had taken, but the bath in the one room at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool was very small.(as a tip, request a room on 3rd or 4th floor at the front of the hotel as the view of the bay is amazing), we stayed on an all inclusive basis, and found the food to be more than edible.beautiful bread, croissants, eggs, bacon, beans etc, fresh juice, toast, fresh fruit.breakfast is served 8/10am.
lunch is served 12.30/1.30,and this is the main drawback, the food is excellent again, but it reminded me of being in school,as 200 people descend into the restaurant for their lunch.if the hotel management read this, the lunch needs to beextended at least another 30 mins!
dinner is served 7/8.30pm,there are no snacks available between lunch and dinner, apart from some cakes around4/5pm.dinner again is good, sea bass, salmon steaks, always meats available.there is wine on draught, soft drinks on draught and bottled beer available on A.I.basis.
the pool bar opened at 10am and closed at 5pm,serving drinks and ices for the children, the pool was very deep,3m to be exact, not very child friendly, but excellent for diving!the indoor pool was fine for a refreshing dip,as it was not heated, but this was o.k if you entered the jacuzzi straight afterwards.as other guests have mentioned the germans do reserve the beds, but do as i done, and remove their towels,we are all on holiday!
the beach is less than 5 mins walk down a slight hill and is gorgeous, banana boat rides etc, etc.
this hotel is predominantly german, with no entertainment for the british, but anyone who uses tripadvisor would already have known this before they arrived at the hotel,as i did.
I would stay at this hotel again,as i thought it was spotlessly clean, with a good quality of food and drink.
p.s.please remember you have to make a holiday and not just look for the negatives and complain!!

.

“Get your towels out early!!!”

Firstly, we were the only 2 Brits in the hotel. So you can find the hundred plus Germans a little on the rude side. You do however need to get to the pool before 8am if you want a sunbed as they are in short supply and get taken by the Germans before breakfast. But the beach is a 2min walk. The hill isnt so bad!
If you want a quiet hotel within walking distance of the bars and resturants then this is the one to go for. Its clean and tidy and we found it relaxing, even if you did have to battle the odd german to get a sunbed!!
We opted for the B&B option. Food ok, but very similar to a school canteen. So i recommend Crocodillo's for a very pleasant evening meal.

“Boring Hotel No Atmosphere!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2008

Returned yesterday from an all inclusve stay. This Hotel is filled with German Holidaymakers so all the notices are in German. The staff are miserable. I can't think of any member of staff who smiled ,from the reception staff to the cleaners. I can't blame them I would be in the doldrums if I had to work there day in day out.

Let me list the downfalls...

1. On a steep hill to the main road.
2. Pool up flight of steps.
3. Childrens play are up a further flight of steps
4. Food of a very very poor quality
5. No entertainment for Adults at all. Not even background music.
6. Rooms dated. Needs refurbishment especially the bathrooms (bath very small and has been painted, tiling old and cracked)
7. Card Key to room kept losing room information so had to get it reset every other day. Really annoying when you return after walk in sun and need a shower asap and you then have to make your way back to reception. This happened to another guest also.

Now let me list the good points...

1. 5 minutes from the beach (down the very steep hill)
2. Plenty of resturants close by.

The bar in the main lounge on the ground floor closes when the bar near the pool opens so no chance of getting even a coffee during the day unless you walk to the pool area. Staff seem to flit between this Hotel and the Sister Hotel across the road (which is equally boring but more modern)

All meals served in main restuarnat which is in the basement. Eating outdoors is not an option, in fact it is discouraged. No food is served at the outdoor pool and there are signs which say no food allowed to be brought to the pool area.

Children are not supervised at all at the pool. We saw a couple of children, who had drifted into the deeper end of the pool by accident, only to be rescued by sunbathers. The pool drops from1.5 metres to 2.0 metres very quickly. We are mature ladies and we were shocked at the very steep step in the pool and you could see the adults new to the pool slip on the floor as they encountered the drop.

To finish...I have no axe to grind. I do not need to promote any other Hotel in the area. I just want to warn other Brits who are thinking of booking this Hotel that my idea of a Resort Hotel is to
relax, enjoy the facilities of a clean, welcoming Hotel by pleasant staff and get advice to places of interest to visit in the area. This is not a Hotel for British Holiday Makers due to the language barrier

Oh! I forgot to say. We are not young 20 or 30 somethings expecting a fun Hotel. We are mature ladies and we found the Hotel boring beyond belief. Plenty of other Hotels in the area. We have kept the names of several others which are far superior because we would like to return to Santa Ponsa as it is a lovely area of Majorca.

My friends sumed it up best by saying this Hotel has no atmosphere or soul.
