My wife and I visted Santa Ponsa for a four day break in September 2011, shortly after returning from our honeymoon in Aruba.
When booking our Aruba wedding/honeymoon, we pre-empted that we would get a severe dose of back to work blues, so decided to book a short trip somehwhere sunny to top up our tans.
We went for Santa Ponsa as it looked a nice resort, with short transfer times from Plama and close to Palma Nova / Magaluf if you wanted a night on the tiles.
We were on a budget for this short trip and we had return flights from Liverpool and 3 nights B&B at Golf Beach for approx £150pp. (50:50 split in costs). Because of the price, we went with rather low expectations and was pleasantly surprised with what we got.
The hotel is one minutes walk from the lovely beach in Santa Ponsa and is surrounded by numerous bars and restuarants, with enough choice to keep you happy for the week.
The hotel was basic, but it is a 2 star, so you cant expect the earth. However, there was pretty much everything you needed for a simple short break. The good points were that the hotel was very quiet, the pool was nice and in the sun all day and no need to fight for a sun bed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar area was nice (and prices for drinks were reasonable) and there was internet access if needed for a small charge. At the end of our stay, the staff looked after our luggage after check out and there were adequate facilities to get showered and changed before flying home later that eveing.
The only downsides I could see is that the safety deposit box was pricey (about £20) and could only be hired for a whole week. We decided to risk it and not bother, but we had no issues with that. Other facilities such as irons etc could be hired from the reception, however these were pricey too. The breakfast was on the basic side of continental, but as we did not realise our booking included this, so it was nice to have a "free" tea, toast, cereal and juice in a morning.
The room was clean and comfortable, as was the rest of the hotel. It actually look better in the "flesh" than it does on the internet pictures.
I'm sure there are plenty more luxurious hotels in the resort, but this is not what this hotel is all about. If your on a budget and looking for a simple, clean room in a good location, then you can't go wrong with this hotel.
