Got a great price at the end of October. The reception are is very tasteful and the staff efficiebt and friendly. The rooms are decorated like a style and colour from the mid 80s. Very clean. We hired a fridge for 20 euro for the week. Has TV with BBC 1 for a few hours. Downfall of the telly was the fact the the man next door switched his on really loudly at 7am every morning for 5 days until he moved out yay! The breakfast was good plenty to choose from hot sausage bacon and scrambled egg cereals bread and toast etc after my B and B in Turkey this was like a banquet!
We stayed in room 411 and had a nice partial view of the sea and other side of the resort and full pool view.
Santa Ponsa at this time of year is almost closed down even Magaluf was quiet although Palma was still very busy. I would recommend hiring a car and go all over the island as we did. Dont think I would go again at this time of year as not much to do. Hotel more suitable for couples amd not young children. I liked the location but was difficult to find a car parking space so it will be bad in summer. Enjoyed our visit and enjoyed the hotel. The maids do a good job did see the odd ant but didnt bother us. There seems to be a very good bus service that will get you all over the island.

A ten-minute walk up the street from the bus stop (#102 from Palma is the fastest), the Playas del Rey is perhaps the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in anywhere. The rooms, lobby, pool and restaurant all sparkled. From the front desk staff, to the wait staff and housekeeping, everyone was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The breakfasts were quite good, with perhaps a bit of an emphasis toward British tastes, but then that's the majority of its clientele.
Did I mention the attention to cleanliness was remarkable?
I have to say, though, that we did find the beds rather hard and additional bedlinens would have been helpful.
Our second trip to Mallorca in as many years. We were not disappointed.

The hotel is cleaned regularly,the rooms are a little small,shower gel,shampoo and soap replenished daily. The staff are polite, but it can be a little difficult to explain your needs at times.Two problems I encountered, the first the hotel has a serious problem with ants. If you go to where the table tennis table is located at the side of the hotel you will see a large amount of ants. The basement windows are left open and a constant procession of ants can be seen entering the hotel. We had two double rooms,not together,yet we still had on average a dozen to 20 ants every day. I spoke to other guests and they confirmed they had the same problem. Some people wont be bothered by a few ants in their bed or clothes but what concerned us most was them getting into the ipad 2s we had brought. We have had a laptop damaged by ants crawling inside on another holiday. The second and more worrying issue I had was finding a live small black worm wrapped around a piece of bacon on my plate. I didn't want to put my children off eating at breakfast,so I covered it with my napkin. I reported this to reception later that morning, the lady stated that they had recently been inspected. Perhaps this was an isolated incident but given that this hotel is trying to go upmarket not the culinary delight one might expect. The cleaning staff worked very hard while we where there, alas let down by serious issues that should be addressed by management.

We spent a fantastic 10 days at the Playas del Rey. From the moment we arrived until we left we where made more than welcome from the friendly staff (who if you talk to them they are more than willing to spend time with you) So glad we did'nt take into account some of the reviews on here as we would have missed out on a lovely hotel. We would like to clear up some points made on here, the food in the dining room was wonderful and always served with a smile, breakfast was extremely adequate ( if you want a full English go to Blackpool!) and as for the bar prices no more expensive than on the street, you get quality drinks served in beautiful surroundings. The hotel is spotlessly clean and rooms serviced every day. It is ideally situated for the beach and other amenities. I will close by thanking the Playas del Rey and all the staff for a truely memorable stay. Also thank you for the bottle of champagne you left in our room when you found out it was our Anniversary.
