We have stayed here twice and both times we havent been disappointed with our stay. Both hotels in the complex are good albeit furnishings are a tad dated! The maid service is excellent and good choice of food for a 3 star hotel with plenty of fresh bread, which can be a rareity in Spain! The only disappointment would be the snacks provided for the All Inclusive guests, not much choice and long queues around peak times! That said it is pretty much the norm for any 3 star All Inclusive holiday and we have been on a few so should know. We would come back again in the future and would recommend to others.

My husband and I returned on Friday from a week at the Pionero and enjoyed every minute! It was the perfect Autumn getaway for some last minute sun before winter sets in. We have read some unfavourable reviews on here recently but we only have good things to say!
The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout and the bedrooms were cleaned / towels changed daily. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed.
We found all the staff were friendly and helpful. Any queries we had were dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Ok, the food was never going to be Michelin star quality but it was perfectly adequte and it was certainly not necessary to eat out of the hotel as some people have stated. We were half board so I can't comment on the All Inclusive aspect of the hotel. However, there was a good choice at breakfast - cereals, fruit, yogurts, different pasteries as well as a selection of cooked breakfast items. There was always a choice at dinner - soup and salads to start. Usually a pasta dish and a couple of meat dishes (always pork though!) for main and a selection of cakes and ice creams for pudding. It was clear that the season was coming to an end and the hotel was getting quieter and quieter. I imagine that the kitchen was probably running it's stock down and there would possibly be more choice in the height of the season. Neverthelss, you know when you book this time of year that is a risk you take.
Regarding the entertainment.... there wasn't much! Again, you can't expect the same level of entertainment in the last week of the season as in August. This suited us down to the ground as we prefer to have a quieter holiday without Karaoke droaning on into the early hours of the morning!
The pool was freezing! Ok for dipping your feet into but wouldn't want to go swimming! No problem getting a lounger either by the pool or on the sun terrace but again that was probably due to the time of year.
Santa Ponsa is lovely at this time of year. Lovely big beach and some great little walks to go on.
I can't comment on other peoples experiences at this hotel but we had a really lovely holiday here which was great value. We are already considering booking again for next year!

I stayed at this hotel last week and I must say that I was impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. Thats as far as the good things go.The staff however was very rude on many occasions, but did help me out when my neighbours next door insisted on watching television very loudly at 1.30 in the morning. The food however started off with plenty of choice the beginning of the week but by the end of the week it was disgusting. They definately didnt cater for children. Usually in hotels that are child friendly they have a choice of burgers, pizzas or sausages but nothing here. I wouldnt return to this hotel especially in summer because the service was bad enough with the ammount of people there end of season so youve got not chance when its going to be busy. I saw the Thomson rep on the welcome meeting but didnt see her after that.

Just returned from a five night stay at this hotel - travelled with my twelve year old and neither of us could fault the service, cleanliness,food and overall hospitality from all the staff.
