stayed at the jardin de playa for 1week in Sept. very basic but comfy. Its very well located and close to everything. I would stay here again

We have just got back from this hotel and really enjoyed a pleasant stay. We had originally booked in somewhere else but moved as it was awful. Santa Ponsa was very busy and this was our fourth try at finding a vacancy. The place is basic but nice and clean, the room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels and the bedding changed when requested even though we were only there 5 nights. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food from the pool snack bar was lovely. I have rated this as average however I would have rated it as good if that option was available.

Pool is large and attractive but was in need of a clean. Reception staff were a bit hit and miss. Accommodation is basic but functional. Don't expect to be able to self cater. You will get 4 forks, 4 knives etc, a hob boil kettle, no microwave or over and 4 electric hob plates. Air conditioning would find it hard to compete with someone blowing and is not effective in the adjoining bedroom unless you leave the door open. Beach is rocky, weedy and small but there is a nice view from the pool area. Reasonable sized balconies, nice staff at pool bar (Scotsman and local are particularly nice) and food at bar is good. Entertainment was O and this is a reasonable family hotel. Best is that it is a minute away from a square which offers free daily entertainment, which is first class and great for kids, plus bars and restaurants. Chinese set price meal is particularly good, located opposite the supermarket. Be warned, eating out is not as cheap as it used to be and neither is the supermarket!

We had booked here from 29th June - 13th July and were one of the unlucky ones on top floor of main building who were broken into on our 5th night. It was also interesting that the lights on our floor were broken when we arrived back to find out about the break in.. Thank god we had all of our money stored in another family member's room to spread the cost of the safe - but i can confirm that the two rooms next to us who were also broken into did not use the safe. Room was ransacked (probably looking for our money) they took my son's laptop, my jewelery and ipod, camera etc, think my partner disturbed them as dvd player was dropped at patio door.

The hotel staff were completely dis-interested. They moved neighbours who were not robbed, at their request to a larger sea view room, but offered us room on floor below. After reading on trip advisor there had been in a break in week before on that floor i refused it. Not one member of staff came up to inspect the room!! Police came and took a statement but management did not offer any apology or appear at any point. 2 days later when another 3 rooms were broken into i contacted alpha rooms and asked to be moved - my 9 year old and myself were now extremely nervous leaving the room and sleeping there. Luckily we were eventually moved to the sister hotel Punta Del Mar which was such a beautiful hotel, better standard of accom, staff, food and the views were to die for - i would thoroughly recommend this hotel - i can't praise it enough.

In terms of the jardin de playa we were probably unlucky to be robbed and before that my thoughts were that it was a reasonable enough hotel with ok food and facilities but I can honestly say that to be classed as the same rating as punta del mar seems ludicrous to me.

If you have already booked please don't worry too much - our other family members
( who had booked the safe were fine) just make sure that you use the safe for all valuables not just money and if you haven't booked yet have a look at punta del mar!
