“IF YOU WILL HAVE A BAD STAY CHOSE THIS HOTEL”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2011

It was a terribly noise every night till 6 o'clock in the morning. NO SLEEP until that moment, and we lived on the top floor. DON'T choose this. We paid back home before we joined the hotel. We wanted to leav after the first night, but they said, no moeny back. To late. AND we had to stay. Some of our group left this hotel and lost the money. DON'T chose this hotel. It's dirty, uncosy, TERRIBLE. We were a group of 19 persons travelling togheter. THIS HOTEL is the worst ever

“THE SLUMS IN INDIA ARE BETTER”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

We have never been anywhere in the world to a hotel so ridiculously filthy and run down.
We checked in and checked out within half hour.
The rooms were badly furbished with broken and worn out furniture.
The paint was peeling off the walls.
The toillet and showers were not working.
The pool was extremley dirty.
The bedsheets and bed covers were stained and very old.
The cupboard doors were all hanging off.
The kitchen was a real health hazrad and un hygenic.
The tiles in the kitchen and the bathroom were stained yellow and had mould on them.
The silicone sealing around the sink and cooker and worktops were all showing and dirty off white/brown colour and disgusting.
There was rust in the fridge and freezer was frozen.
you would be better sleepig on the streets than this hotel.
The sockets and the lighting switches were all very dirty and stained with marks.

“Great Hotel, Great Town!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

The Almonsa Playa hotel is a fine and sophisticated establishment. The quality of the room was outstanding and the staff brilliant. We were overwhelmed by the number of cooking utensils provided and the standard to which they were cleaned was exemplary. The fairly priced air conditioning combined with the efficient sound proofing meant that every night was a refreshing and relaxing slumber.

In the beautiful town of Salou we were greeted by a multicultural array of friends who were able to provide almost anything you could desire from genuine football shirts to fine horticultural goods at negotiable prices.

The local cuisine was of a very high standard and always provided at a fair price. The hygiene standards were unbeatable.

After dark the town really came alive as even more friends led us to the hottest nightspots in town, from the lively 007s where families are always welcome to the classic Bus Stop, where the free deals are the best in town. However, if one is partial to a few vodka and red bulls and is wishing to meet a special someone then the ever popular Kiss will not disappoint. From lively lasses to intellectual ladies who are looking to discuss politics and other world issues over a nice glass of sangria.

Downstairs at Snoopies you will find a wide selection of eligible gentlemen and receive a free shot (with beer.) Across the road is the venerable Croc's Disco where you can "get down." The friendly staff, sporting orange glasses, made us a great offer - 2 beers, 4 euros, free shot, sorted. Of course, we came to Croc's.

For a mid night snack, why not try the Michelin star winning Ickys, whose name betrays it's true quality.

The only club to avoid is called Tropical and is a true ripoff, a shoddy bar and a disgrace to the Salou name.

Down on the roomy beach you will find a selection of watersports and many beautiful women, all with a couple of extra surprises on display - because that's the Salou way.

So, my friend, come to Salou 09 and I'll give you a free shot!

“great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2010

Just got back from a 3-night stay at the Almonsa Playa. We decided to grab a cheap deal somewhere to celebrate the end of uni exams and booked these apartments. There were 6 of us in total and we got a 2 bedroomed apartment. Because of the price (we paid around £20 each for 3 nights!) we weren't really expecting much but we were quite suprised when we got there. The apartment was basic, but was plenty big enough for 6 of us, even when the sofa beds were pulled out in the lounge area. The kitchen only had a 2 ring hob so this might be a bit of a problem if you wanted to cook meals, but this was fine for us as we ate out everyday. The bathroom proved to be a bit of a problem as the hot water seemed to run out after one person had a shower - so 5 of us ended up having cold showers every night!

Our flights to Salou were affected by the volcanic ash, so we arrived a day late. We managed to change the days at the hotel no problem to accomodate our changed return flight to the uk. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. There was a snack bar which was reasonably priced and we got snacks there during the day. The pool was ok, but very cold! We found we were the only people at the pool on the days we were there, which was a bit of a shock, but the apartments in general seemed very quiet and under-occupied as we hardly saw anyone else there in the 3 days when we were there.

Now for the location - it was excellent for what we were looking for. There were a couple of little supermarkets outside of the apartments which had the basics for a self catering stay. The beach was lovely and was only a couple of minutes walk down the road, and had lots of bars/restaurants which we found ourselves at in the evenings. The apartments are also next door to Snoepy's nightclub which is very popular with Spanish teenagers. From our block we couldn't hear any noise from the club, but people in the other blocks may have heard some noise from there as they were nearer. Other clubs/bars such as KISS, Christies, 007 etc are all really close by, no more than a 5 minute walk. Salou has a good nightlife with a variety of different bars/clubs to suit all ages. There is a takeaway called Ickey's opposite the apartments which we thought had closed down because it never seemed to be open when we went past, but on our last night after getting the munchies after a few too many drinks we were told that was the only place that was open, bemused we went there on the way back to the apartment and there was a man stood outside taking orders, with the whole place looking like it was still shut. He said if we paid the money first he would get our food for us. We honestly thought it was some kind of scam, but then a group of the PR people for the clubs (mainly Brits) came and were getting thier usual orders, so we thought we'd chance it. Good food and reasonably priced aswell, the usual takeaway stuff pizzas, burgers, kebabs etc, but i've got no idea what time they 'open' or anything, but its not a scam so if you get the munchies then try there!

Overall we had a great time and would go back again to these apartments, great value for money considering the great location!
