“Cheap, Cheerful, Central and comfy.”

We were booked to stay at the Alberon apartments, but our flights were cancelled due to air traffic control strike, and for some reason the management moved us to these apartments instead.
You need to collect your keys from the brissasol office - which is just across the road, (for the Alberon, it is about 2 mins walk along the same Rd, and the office is signposted from the main rd). They actually stayed open until nearly 1am as we were severely delayed - but we had to phone ahead, the man was so helpful though! We noticed the rest of our stay that the office closed between 10 and midnight.
The apartment itself was perfectly functional, with a twin bedroom, twin sofa bed in the living room, and a 3rd single in the living area. All the ususal pots n pans and our apartment had a washing machine, although my mums did not.
Big airy bathroom, with the best shower i've ever used was a total bonus! We had a balcony overlooking the pool, but the pool was closed as it was late in the season, (the weather was mostly hot, around 25 degrees, so we were on the beach every day).
Excellent central location, with 2 supermarkets, one downstairs, and one about 100 yards away (it was a better shop then the one downstairs, but the one downstairs had an excellent bakery - and coffee shop for those breakfasts!)
There are so many places to eat out, but every establishment seemed to have 'muggers' on the door, who nearly dragged us in every time we walked past, this was the most tedious and annoying part of the holiday - I felt like screaming at them by the time we left, but that's my personal opinion of pushy sales tactics :( Plus the kids drinks were more expensive then the alcohol, so, for example, 3 pints of lager was less than €5 but 4 colas or fantas cost around €15 to €20!!!
Salou itself is a clean resort with a wonderful soft sandy beach, and sunbeds are for hire for the day from €3. The children loved the sea as it is very shallow for a long way out, and even though this was the end of october, they swam every day.
We pre-arranged our transfers and they cost us less then £40 return, but i did shop around, however due to our flights being messed up we were forced to get a taxi, and the standard cost from Reus to salou seemed to be €29 (all the taxis were 7 seaters)
We found the bus very confusing, although there were busses everywhere, there didn't seem to be a regular airport run.
All in all though we had a wonderful week, at very little cost for a half term winter break, in cheap and cheerful apartments, plus the inevitable Ryan air low cost flights.
You get what you pay for.

“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2010

Stayed in the Zahara Apartments in June and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are basic but there good if you want a cheap hotel in a good location. The whole atmosphere of the hotel is nice, quiet and relaxing. The pool is is a great place to hang out and relax and the water is so cool and refreshing. There are a few restaurants near by but there is a lot more if you head towards the beach. The only bad thing about the hotel is that you have clean up the whole room and make sure it is the way you found it before you leave. I know this is a cheap hotel but I still don't think you should have to clean the whole room up after you. But apart from that I would definently recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a cheap hotel in a good location with nice rooms.

“Central location, basic,clean,”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

Stayed in Zahara apartments early May 2010. This is a basic one bedroomed apartment. It is basic, has all the usual, fridge/freezer, cooker, enough utensils, no kettle. When you arrive you get the key across the street Carrer de Navarro, in Brisasol. It is easily found just off Plaza Salou which is in the centre of the resort. You can get a public bus just outside Arrivals at Reus airport, cost €5.80, the driver was helpful. A sat nav is the business. Your key pick up is at Brisasol just over the street. More information, no cleaning during the week, a mop and bucket is provided, not many towels of toilet paper. There is an internet cafe at the entrance and also a supermarket, just around the corner is a laundry. Lots of places to eat, try the buffet Libre in hotel California or better The Marinada, €10 a head.Another issue, only 1 key for apartment which is a pain when someone wants an early one.

Good rooms, nice pool and in a good area

close to the beach and right next to the supermarket

perhaps not for families but very good for a group of lads : )
