Stayed here for a weekend with two female friends. We arrived late so had to check in in salou suites, the sister hotel,the lady in this hotel gave us directions but very bad ones, so we were one hour trying to find the place, dragging suitcases after us and up and down the streets. Eventually found it and after reading some shocking reviews was quiet worried upon entry!! But the apartments themselves were clean and basic, with two rooms and the living area. There are three blocks and we got the block inside the gate which was handy because it was close to everything. These apartments are DEFO not for families with young children or eldery people as the noise by night is very loud and doesnt stop until 6 or 7 in the morning, as we were young people we did not mind this but ekdery people would. Plenty of towels and utensils. Bit of a walk to the main strip but for the price you pay, it is worth it. we stayed here three nights and enjoyed it. Some reviews would put you off going to this place but for the value of it, we thought it was fine!! Pool was out of service during our stay which was a pity and the bar on the grounds was closed. But we used these facilities in the sister hotel across the road. Overall apartments are clean and basic but what do you expect for the price you pay!!

My partner, myself and my sister booked to stay at the catalonia gardens for 1 week in May 2009. After collecting the keys from Salou Suites down the street, we circled the "hotel" for ten minutes trying to find the entrance - the only one that we could find had whitewashed windows with grafitti on, we thought this couldnt be it but unfortunately it was. The whole building was deralict, there are shutters on most of the windows and no water in the pool. We walked down a pitch black corridor and found our room, this was a good size but thats where it ends. We tried to have a shower but there was no hot water. We complained and got moved to the Salou suites. Its a shame cos the hotel could be made really nice but as it is, I would not send a stray dog to stay there.

We arrived at this apartment the 30th Aug, and left the following day- they really are horrendous.
After reading some negative reviews, alarm bells started ringing, so i contacted the owner (who i booked with directly). She assured me that the 'negative reviews' were aimed more at the apartments which are owned by tour operator companies who do not keep them well maintained. As hers was a privately owned apartment, this would not be the case, so therefore i felt reassured and went ahead with the booking (which i obviously now regret!).
Even the surrounding areas of the Catalonia apts are really not very nice, graffiti on most of the walls, and generally quite 'rough'.
When we got into the apt itself, we were met with damp stains on the walls, ceiling tiles peeling off in the kitchen area, the air conditioning you had to put a mop bucket underneath to stop the balcony flooding!, i could go on and on!
We have sent emails to the owner since returning, and for some reason she does not seem willing to return emails from myself, but has returned the ones from my husband, only to say that she can't really discuss in detail anything because i was the one who made the booking! This lady obviously has no conscience when she is taking the money from people& misleading them into renting her apt.The website that i first found it on had pictures of a basic, but nice looking apt. We have contacted this company also, to say that these pics etc really need to be updated.
As i said in an email to the owner, i would hate other families to be mislead into this/these apartments, i wasn't expecting 5* accommodation, but like i said before basic, but nice enough apartments. We were in the position that we were able to move the next day, but not everyone could.
It's not just her apt, The whole of this building needs a complete overhaul, so i really would not recommend these apts to anyone going on a family holiday, we said they should maybe be targeted at stag parties etc... for very very low rates!

WE booked out after 30 mins, being too shell shocked to do it sooner. According to local people it is mainly used for long term lets to the immigrants who sell phoney gear and and illegal substances on the streets. Walking down the dark corridor was terrifying, especailly as there are no windows and the light, which is on a timer goes out nearly immediately. We are in our 60's but would have seriously slept on the beach that night, if we hadn't been lucky enough to find somewhere else. I'm still shocked just thinking about it. It certainly isn't a safe place to be, and should be either shut, or pulled down.
