The reason for my registering such a low score and for writing this poor review is solely due to the complete lack of service I encountered not only at the hotel,but also from Hotels4u.com who are supposedly investigating my complaint.
Salou is a lovely place,the hotel itself though far from a 4* is fine,well located and in many respects very good.
My main and only gripe was the management team itself and their total inability to deal with my problems and complaints in the correct manner.
We paid extra for a Junior suite,again the room was realy good,but due to on going problems with noise(upstairs neighbours,street noise etc etc)we were forced to move to an inferior double room which was located on the roof next to the machinery for the whole hotel.This would not actually had been a problem,but the air conditioning was faulty which meant we had to have the balcony door open all night and the noise from the machinery did not allow us any sleep at all.
As with the noise issue which I reported many times(no action taken)the air-con remained faulty all week,the room telephone never worked and when we moved rooms no help was given or apology forthcoming.(a free spa day was promised ,but never materialised).
We had 3 nights of very little sleep and I spent most of the holiday in the reception complaining about the same problems.The manager(who couldnt speak ANY english)avoided me like the plague(did not turn up for several arranged meetings),until one day I camped out in the lobby until he had to see me.He had to have an interpreter present and i am sure did not understand half of what she told him.The night shift manager also could not speak any english and twice I came to see him about the noise and he just said "reception closed,come back in morning".The assistant manageress although friendly did little to help and I am still waiting for her to contact hotels4u regarding my compensation claim.(though she did say she had e-mailed them twice?).
All in all the whole holiday was spoilt by poor service,incompetent mangement and now the on going lack of interest(e-mailed 6 times,3 phone calls-no response)from hotels 4u.com.
