If you've looked around for revies of this place you'll see that the majority of them are fairly awful so it was with some trepidation that I went on this holiday.
We arrived around 8pm so the Euromed agency down the road (which doubles as a reception) was closed and we had to pick up our keys from the Hotel Europa Park across the road. Once we gt our keys we entered the aprtment and I was really pleasantly surprided. The apartment was big and airy and seemed really clean. It had a cooker, hobs, microwave, washing machine etc.. and plenty of room for 6 people in my eyes. It's approx. a 15 minute walk from the centre of Salou and a 15 min walk to Port Aventura so things are within easy reach but you're not smack in the middle of the crowded parts of Salou.
Like many who have stayed here, we did have to contact Euromed about a repair (in our case the shutters over the front bedroom were broken and this was repaired within 24 hours.
However, during our stay we did become aware of some problems. First of all, the plumbing in the building (or at least Block E which we were in) was awful and one of the bathrooms couldn't be used because of the sewer stench that was coming from it. There was also a problem with ants in the kitchen which surprised us because we hadn't left food out or anything but we quickly found out that they were coming up from the kitchen sink so a good dose of bleach (leija) doen the sinkhole sorted this out .
The maid comes once a week and as far as I could tell leaves clean towels and that's it.The beds were made but the sheets hadn't been changed and please don't count on the maid leaving toilet roll if you've run out - buy your own.
All in all these apartments were ok. They suited our purposes in that we wanted somewhere to lay our head at night and we made our own entertainment during the day and at night. I would not recommend this place for families who want to laze by the pool and then be entertained in the hotel though!
A few last comments that you should know about Village Park and theresort in general.
1. A deposit of 150 Euros or 100 pounds is payable on arrival. You will get this back at the end of your stay.
2. The safety deposit boxes are located in the Euromed office - anuisance as you can only use these during office ours (10-1 then 4-8)
3. If you decide to take a day trip to Barcelona take the train (11.50 Euros) rather than the bus (18.90 Euros) as it is cheaper and faster although be warned the trains can get crowded and you may have to stand.
4. If you want to treat yourself to an amazing meal try the D'Albert which is down by the waterfront on the opposite end of the rambla from the illuinated fountain. The food is amazing although it is quite pricy (65Euros for a 3 course meal for 2 - no wine)
5. Go to one of the many La Ibense ice cream parlours. There are 2 on the main road and 2 more dotted about the resort. It has the best icecream you will ever taste!!!!!
