“Brilliant for kids, would definitely stay again”

we stayed here a week 10-17th june 2011 and had an amazing time, weather was scorching, pool is a bit cool but once you're in you get used to it, its a lovely walk along the coast into salou which we did about 3 evenings over the week, short walk downhill into the centre of cap salou where there are plenty of places to eat & drink, we had heard alot of good reports about smugglers, went there & the service was extremely slow & it was in no way busy so i'd hate to see what it was like if they were, the food was lovely but if you are there with kids it is very hard keeping them from getting impatient with the wait!! the paddock is nice too but there is a little place between that & smugglers (can't rem the name) where we ate & went in for cocktails a few nights, the staff here are very nice & there's a little lady who gave my son little cars to play with & keep each time we went in, there is also a nice small secluded beach in the centre which wasn't too busy, plenty of little amusements to keep kids happy also, there are also little machines and pool etc in the Sunclub itself, we would definitely return to Cap Salou & our choice of accommodation would be Sunclub as it is perfect for kids

“Do not go in October”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

We went to this hotel from the 14th October for one week, and although it is spotlessly clean hotel with very nice staff, there were so many things that could have made a better holiday. Our room was excellent, if you are a family of 5 with small children ask for 007. It was ground floor with a gate that led to the childrens play area and pool. Massive private terrace.

Firstly, when we arrived it was a ghost town and the area around it was no better. Despite it being half term, everywhere had virtually closed down and that included the hotel. We paid for an all inclusive drinks package and basically the hotel ar was shut from 12pm until 7pm in the evening making it very difficult to have what we paid for. The compromise was uying drinks from the supermarket and some very awkward conversation when we picked up something we weren't supposed to.

They didn't run entertainment every night of the week and there were no kids clubs available. Brian did his best with the few guests that were in the hotel but often there were not enough to make it worth his while to provide entertainment. Our final night was spoilt by some people being on a 30th birthday party and asking him to face paint the whole lot of them, meaning that we didn't get proper entertainment that night.

The pool was quiet but was cold and plagued with wasps.

Cap Salou is a hole in October, everything is shut for the season and what remained opened provided questionable food, so that meant a hefty 70 euro bill for the bus for the week to eat in Salou itself and thankfully the rally was on, so there were some eateries open. The beaches were a bit dirty, also plagued with wasps and covered in fag ends.

Generally, not too bad and if yo uwent earlier in the season a lovely hotel, a brilliant bus servie to Salou thankfully, a not so nice area but I'll never take the kids away for October half term again.

Room Tip: We had the James Bond room 007, own gate to the childrens pool and childrens play area so made it ea...

“Amazing Holiday - Would Definitely Return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

I have just come back from the Sunclub Apts (Sept 24-1 Oct) and wow what a great holiday my sister and I had! We paid for a sea view 2-bedroom apartment and requested a high floor which is exactly what we got. We were in room 521 with a double and a twin bedroom as well as the pull-out sofa bed in the livingroom.
Although basi, the apartments have a fridge, cooker (2-hobs), kettle, cutlery etc etc, and are in an ideal location. Just next to the apartments, there is a Spar shop with another 'supermarket' called Michaelangelos just up the road. There are excellent transport links outside the accommodation as well with buses that run to Salou, PortAventura, Cambrills and La Pineda every 10 mins. A good tip is to buy a bus card which is 12,95 euros and that gave you 10 trips on the buses - a single without this is 2,20 euros - so definitely worth your while if you plan on moving through resorts.
On arrival, we had to leave card details or a £60/100 euro (refundable) deposit in case of any breakages, which we hadn't expected so be careful of that. Also, if we wanted to rent a safe it would have been 5 euros per day and an electric kettle is 7 euros per week - which I thought was a rip off. There is a hob-kettle in the apartment so we just stuck to that. There is the option to upgrade to all-inclusive whilst there and that was 15 euros per person per day. We didn't bother as we had cooking facs and there was a restaurant in the complex as well.
The small cove-like beach of Cap Salou is a five minute walk downhill but it's a wee bit steep coming back up. May not be ideal for those with walking difficulties as Cap Salou is quite hilly. However, saying that, I much preferred the quiet, pretty charm of this resort compared to the hussle and bustle in the centre of (New) Salou. Had we been in Salou itself, my review would probably be a lot different as I felt it really was touristy and built up with no charisma at all. Some people may like that though - as there were restaurants aplenty; a Subway store; souvenier stores and a long beach which was packed by 10am.
We loved Spain immensely and would certainly return. One thing we would miss out though is PortAventura as we felt it was great for young families and children but seeing as we are 21 and 24, we didn't get the appeal. We were glad we went but the 44 euros pp for a day ticket is steep for the assortment of rides they had. However, if your kids love dolphins, sealions etc - try Aquapolis in La Pineda as there is the option to swim with sealions and pet/kiss the dolphins (for an additional charge).
We travelled with first choice/thomson and were extremely happy with the rep, Mel. We were also able to book tours through her and did one called the Barcelona Day and Night Tour which covered all the obvious attractions in Barcelona for 62 euros each. Completely worth doing - a great tour. You will be knackered the next day though as you are on the go for about 12 hours.
The only negative I have is the sleep quality of the hotel. The bigger and next-door complex of the H10 Med Village had karaoke going on every night from 7pm until after midnight and even with your windows shut, you could hear it loud and clear which made settling down a problem. This was only a minor problem for us but if you had children, it may cause bigger issues.

Room Tip: Sea Views well worth the extra money and the higher up you are, the better.

“Return Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We returned to this Aparthotel having stayed there last year. This time we spent two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. As before we found the staff to be very pleasant, efficient and helpful. Our room was on the fourth floor and it was bright and clean, and any rubbish was removed every day and fresh towels were supplied. The beds were made and the linen replaced regularly. We thought that the service was excellent. The balcony we noted was larger than those on the neighbouring hotels. Ours was west facing so we had the enjoyment of watching the sun set each evening in addition to having a view of the sea. The only downside was that we had to listen to the entertainment from the neighbouring hotel, whose amplification we thought was excessive and a little intrusive at times, but at least it ended about 11.30p.m. Like any place you stay you cannot always guarantee that those who occupy the adjoining rooms will be quite. We were generally fortunate. However there was a huge disturbance on one particular night somewhere within the building (thankfully not next to us) when there was a fierce argument and screaming which lasted about 15/20 mins. We learned the following day that it caused by someone returning who had too much to drink. It was not repeated. One other observation was the lack of parental control of young children, who were allowed to run around late at night. This presented problems for staff who in fairness could only do so much, but they need to effectively close off the access to the pool area at night. The internet is available in the lobby area and on the lower floor and is expensive at €1 for 10 mins. Our bus transfer was at 3p.m. and we were able to use a courtesy room to change and have a shower prior to leaving. This was offered free of charge but you had to book it in advance, say a few days beforehand. A useful facility. As a location from which to explore Salou and the locality, we felt that the aparthotel was superb primarily because of the very efficient and cheap public transport which had a bus stop literally outside the hotel. For those wishing to self cater the Michelangelo supermarket is only a few minutes walk away and reasonably well stocked and priced. In summary if you want a place that is "cheap and cheerful" and you are prepared to put up with a few inconveniences in terms of noise then the SunClub represents good value for money. It certainly suited our purpose perfectly.
