This is a fabulous hotel. Superb location, right on the beach. The Hotel is very modern and clean and the staff are very proffesional and friendly. We asked for a pool and sea view and got a lovely room on the 1st floor. The majority of holiday makers in the hotel were Spanish, Russian and German, As brits we were the minority which we quite liked! No union jack shorts here!!! The rooms are very stylish and modern. Just one critisism, the beds were quite hard but not a problem. The food is excellent, and we think it deserves a 3 star plus or even 4 star. Lots of choice and very healthy as I am a Slimming world member so plenty of fresh crispy salads and fruit!!
The beach bar is great and has a superb view drinking an ice cold beer mmmm. Just a short walk down the road in Cap Salou, there are a few bars and restaurants, The Paddock being our favourite. Sky television.... so footi and X factor should you need your fix! 1.5euros a pint so no need to break the bank. Lovely couple from Sheffield run the bar. Route 66, Smuglers Inn and Mickeys bar very good too. The small resort is a great place to relax and chill out we loved it. The local tourist shops are cheap too.
If you want to have a wander into the main resort of Salou, a lovely walk along the sea front will take you about 25 minutes or catch the bus (Plana) outside Knights Inn pub, or the little road train. You can get a pass from one of the Plana reps, 12 euros for 12 journeys 97 cents per journey great value.
Salou is a great resort, the bars and restaurants are superb along the front but be prepared to spend a little more for the location. Lunattic is a cocktail bar and they can make cocktails! a big coconut shell arrived with mine in it!!!! at least 8euros minimum for this though, but take your time sipping it and it's worth the treat! The promenade is impressive and at night the fountains are set to music with lights really lovely. Set back from the front there are lots of bars, The Robin Hood for good old english entertainment, bingo and kareoke if you want it. Very popular with families and older folk! Bus stop, Dannys and OO7 are worth a look too. Too many to mention ......
We took a trip to Tarragona by Plana bus (No.4) takes 20 mins this is well worth it, a great city with lots of character, amphitheatre, cathedral, old streets with plenty of restaurants and cafes and a fabulous view of the port.
Trip to Barcelona, we went by train. This takes 1hr and 15 mins. Word of advice, don't go Friday afternoon like we did! it was packed and the city is massive (like London) very hot and people everywhere. The city is amazing and very impressive but too much to see in one afternoon. We would go again for 3 days and when the weather has cooled down. The port is impressive and if hot, the breeze is lovely.
All in all we loved this holiday and will definitely be returning. We would recommend to anyone.
