We booked our holiday at the Piramide Hotel through Thomas Cook, transfers from the airport took around 25 minutes, Our overseas rep from Thomas Cook never made an effort with us apart from selling us a trip to barcelona for double the price of other places in Salou. we arrived at the hotel and were allowed to check-in to our room straight away. As we walked into our room i noticed one of the shelfs wasn't properly attached but we never mentioned it to the staff, apart from that the rest of the room was very clean with working air conditioning (REMEMBER TO SHUT THE PATIO DOORS OR IT WON'T WORK.) The staff at reception are full of information about the local area and are happy to help direct you with maps. Bikes are available for hire, I know cycling doesn't sound great in the summer sun but i highly recommend it. You can cycle along the seafront to a town called Cambrils which is beautiful. We were all-inclusive and found it brilliant, local drinks (San Miguel) and soft drinks are available until 11pm. Most of the staff are happy to allow you more than 2 drinks, some people while we stayed were getting 8 cocktails at once. Snacks are available throughout the day at the pool bar, and selected times in the main restraunt. Packaged sandwichs, pizzas are the main things on offer. The main restraunt/buffet food was a let down, we stayed for 14 nights and only dined on pizza, chips, pasta and deserts as the other food was either undercooked or over cooked. The swimming pool was freezing for the whole duration of our stay, many people avoided going in. On one of the days they had giant inflatables for all the guests to play on, that was the only one time i seen adults actually enjoying the pool. The staff are really friendly, one guy giovanni..absolute legend! yes he can be slightly annoying at times but he really puts on a display to brighten up the atmosphere. The location is absolutley perfect, a 5 minute stroll and your at the beautiful main beach in Salou(we went 11days out of 14.) One the beach head to a cocktail bar called La Sal, easily the best place in Salou for your cocktails, you can get a takeaway pizza from there and sit on the beach 2 steps away! No trip to Salou is complete without seeing the La Sal cocktail show (11.30pm daily) There are a wide selection of restraunts and shops only a minutes walk away. Overall the hotel was very nice place, if the food improved i wouldn't hesitate at staying again. Salou was amazing, thats all I can say, PortAventura & Aquoplois have to be on your to do list. The waterpark at PortAventura is no where near as good as Aquoplois.
