“CLEAN, FRIENDLY RESORT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

person found this review helpful

Clean comfortable apartment with cleaning on alternate days, frequent bedding and towel changes. Outdoor pool very cold but indoor pool a comfortable 29 deg and jacuzzi. Spa centre very clean although pre-booking a bit of an unnecessary chore. Activities suited most of the regular members staying there with cookery, sangria, shuffleboard and bingo. Very good accompanied trip to Malaga. On site entertainment in Casbah cafe 6 nights per week and reasonable prices on food and drinks.
Surrounding streets suffering from decay and dog fouling.
Lots of local bars and restaurants, but also lots closed - some for holidays.

“Great Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This is a lovely resort and we have stayed here around 6 times now. We stayed this time for 19 days from the 9th January till 27th Janury It is our first choice for accomodation in the Costa del Sol. We were slightly disappointed that our peace and quiet was interupted by a young group ( Dutch footballers we were told) of over 16 youths. Within 10 mins of them arriving I had to complain to reception, and I was not the only person. Loud singing, banging doors shouting etc is not what this resort is normally about. They were only there for 2 nights, but managed to come in at 3 am the first morning and 5 am the next. We were across the landing. The room was not as clean as we have had in the past, and we found cigarette ash down the toilet. The room had little notices under the bed saying that they 'dusted under here too', it was a pity that they missed other areas especially in the kitchen and bathroom.

The resort is also being refurbished at the Royal Dunes building and we managed to have 2 days of pneumatic drill going on till 6 in the evening as they lifted the ceramic tiles. We were, of course, in the Royal Mirage building immediately opposite.
Still the weather made up for it. I have marked the resort down due to this fact but these problems should resolve themselves and will not stop me going again.

Room Tip: Avoid Mirage or Dunes building at present due to renovations

“Simply wonderful!”

We went for a week at the end of January2012. The resort is very pretty, built in the style of a pueblo, with lots of little squares and short flights of steps that take you off in different directions. We loved it. Everything about it was superb: staff are so helpful and friendly, refurbished apartments top notch, perfectly clean, lovely facilities for a relaxing holiday, great service in the restaurant / poolside cafe with a very varied and delicious menu. Even the evening entertainment was enjoyable!

“Excellent apartment- clean and well stocked.”

This was an inexpensive break in January after I'd had a difficult few months. The sun shone enough to enjoy coffee on the balcony and overall it was peaceful but the noise of furniture being moved during cleaning was intrusive.
It was a 1 bedroom apartment and the bedroom was lovely but I don't know how comfortable the bed settee would be.
Well stocked kitchen with implements which worked.Food hamper was good, fabulous eggs and nice to have sachets of salt and pepper. The tiny supermarket on site carried all the basics and not too expensive.
Everywhere was very clean and all the staff friendly and helpful.
The location was great.
Pool may be a bit small in summer. .
I flew into Malaga airport and caught the train to Benalmadena (1 euro 63 cents) then a 6 euro taxi to the hotel- very straight forward..
It was the break I wanted.

Room Tip: Lots of half staircases may make it difficult for those with poor mobililty.

“Lovely staff and facilities...location was great too.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The accomodation was very clean and the "living space" in each apartment is great. We had a problem with the water which was always cold. Someone came to sort it out and it was okay for a while but went cold after 2 minutes of showering. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was amazing as the beach was a minute away and there were plenty of shops around for groceries and last minute bits and pieces.
In addition to the outdoor pool there is an indoor one and an indoor jacuzzi which was brilliant as we had terrible weather when we visited. You have to book the sauna in advance which may be a bit of a problem. If you're going with children then there is a little play area, kids club and a mini crazy golf as well as table tennis if you're looking for a way to pass time with the kids.
If you're going with someone in a wheelchair or someone who cannot work much then this place can be a problem as the lift takes you to a certain level only and then you have to use stairs to get to your apartment.
